2013 Trans Surging + Backup Camera - Dim
Hi everyone. I just picked up a 2013 AWD with 55k. Everything is pretty decent, but I'd like some help with a couple of items to point me in the right direction.
- The backup camera is very contrasty. I have gone into the settings and played with the Brightness and Contrast but nothing seems to help. It's almost like there is a piece of window tint over the lens.
- The next issue is as I'm slowing to go around a corner in the neighborhoods, as I accelerate out of the corner it lurches. It's a 2013 with 55k and none of the service records show a tranny service. And I'm not buying the whole 100k service intervals. So I'm planning to have a service done by one of my trusted 2 ASE-certified small shop technicians. Any tips or preferences in fluids, etc would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome. You posted this in the build thread. Should be in the 4th Gen GS section titled Normal Threads for help. I clicked on help and ask the mods to move there for you. If they don't repost it in the Normal sec yourself.

About the problems..... First have you checked to be sure that it is the Factory Camera back there? Some have done Carplay installs and changed the Cameras, and or it was in a rear end accident and was replaced with a aftermarket cheap one? If so or not, check ebay for a used or new Factory Camera to switch out and see if it's the same problem. There were also previous Lexus threads here where adjusting the brightness to bright made it better. Others said wipe the lens, but some noticed the cloudiness debris was on the inside of the lens.

Without knowing all the details on the lurches? If was me I would try cleaning the Throttle body and Intake. Disconnecting the battery and letting the ECU relearn some. Depending on what happens next a simple Trans fluid drain and fill may help, if it Trans related. Not flush. If you choose, you could have a Trans pan drop service, and have the Trans filter changed out also. You can do the search function here and find many threads about Trans, drain services.
