Default Reliability?

How reliable is this gen of gs350? Any model years that should be avoided? Are they still as solid as the old school GS300/GS400?

I had 2 GS'

2013 Grey currently with 130K and a 2014 White with 60K that my wife totaled last year. We replaced her car with a 2023 GX 460 because I wanted the last naturally aspirated V8 toyota.

The GS are amazing cars. I know, because I bought 2 of them. Build quality is fantastic. Not a squeak in the cabin. Engine is running great on premium gas and synthetic oil every 10K miles. Gas mileage is around 20+.

Everything works except the tire pressure monitor. I don't care about those anyway. Car is built to last and I have not made a car payment in 5 years. Will go till 2026 and will buy my wife a 2026 GX 550. By that time, the bugs will most likely be figured out in the new GX and she can give me her GX 460.

If reliability is your thing, this GS is for you. The powertrain can last 300K+ miles if maintained. I cruise around at 85MPH+ and the engine does not feel like its working too hard. Condition my leather seats 4-5 times a year. Honestly, I will probably not sell my GS and just have it around for a rainly day or when we have family in town.

They don't have major issues that'll write the car off economically. That doesn't mean they won't experience semi regular failures as they age.

We have a 2013 in the family and it's been very reliable. 72k miles and the only issue was we had to replace the front struts because our roads here are great. Other than that, regular maintenance and it's been problem free.

The 4 GS are very reliable but do perform all the maintenance. Are you looking for RWD or AWD model and what year?

I daily my 2013 GS450h with 135k miles on original suspension, brake rotors, batteries (hybrid and 12v), and pretty much everything else that isn't a fluid, filter, or tire. Nothing has ever broken on it in 11 years and it still feels the same to drive as when I bought it in 2018. Just follow the maintenance schedule and you'll have great reliability from the GS.

2013 GS450h as well purchased in 2019. Replaced sunroof seal, 12V battery as out of pocket expense in four years. No other issues except a quirky Mute button issue on ML radio that I thought was a rear amplifier issue. Like the old joke goes, when you tell a doctor that your arm hurts if you move it this way, the doctor says well then don’t move it that way and you will be fine. I do not use the mode button on the steering wheel to mute the radio anymore. I just turn the volume down. Great vehicle.
