I just recently purchased some aftermarket wheels for my ES 350. I have been hot rodding and racing on and off for over 40 years. Due to a couple of unfortunate incidents back in my day I always count the turns on lug nuts when installing any new (new to me) set of wheels. These that I bought barely had 7 complete turns from start to torque. Although 7 is considered good by many, I was not comfortable so I started contemplating longer studs.
The factory lexus lug nut fits inside the hole on the wheel and tightens to within a few mm of the hub (most models). This is a very strong wheel mating set up. During my search, I found an aftermarket lug nut that will do the same for aftermarket wheels. It also gives at least 10 turns (my comfort zone) from start to torque. The kit is for a 4runner or Tacoma (24 lug nuts) but is the same size as most Toyota/lexus cars. Now I feel much safer with the aftermarket wheels.
This will also work well with 3 or 5 MM spacers if you need that extra little bit for brake caliper or steering arm clearance.
