The Q50 is a fine car for what it was built to be. I have rented Q50's many times and enjoyed them. I still favor my GS350, but nothing wrong with the Q50 at all.

I don't dislike my Q50. I'm tired of the color (it's gray) and the radio/AC controls are slow to load on the older models like mine. I could get a newer one to get a red one, but those have unreliable turbos. Mine is the standard 3.7L. It comes down to do I want to spend an extra 20 grand to get a Lexus to avoid the trashy turbos on the new Q50s.

I had an earlier Infiniti. From my experience, the early part of the '00s was one of their best runs - the designs were good (with a few exceptions) and the reliability and quality was there. For the longest time I always assumed my next car would be another Infiniti.

That said, when I was looking at cars back then I looked at Infiniti and Lexus as well as Acura. The quality of the Lexus seemed a notch above the other two but because of that it seemed to hold it's resale a bit better. At the time I think the Infiniti was the better "value" because it wasn't seen as being quite up there with the other two despite being a good car and very reliable (mine had it's first really serious issue at about 170,000 miles when it was 20 years old). Before that it was mainly just wear and tear issues.

The other thing, again, just from my experience, was the dealer experience. When I lived on the east coast I had 5 Infiniti dealers within a reasonable driving distance. 3 were not great, even when I was in the process of shopping and had a sales person make an extremely rude, inappropriate, and obnoxious comment to a question I asked. The dealer here in Oregon was simply HORRIBLE. That sealed the deal of never having another Infiniti for me even without looking at the quality/reliability issues that seemed to start in the early 20-teens. The dealer I ended up working with the most when I lived on the east coast was top notch.

That's not to say every Lexus dealer is perfect - I know I've read of bad experiences at some Lexus dealers but at least there generally seem to be more Lexus dealers around.
