Towards the end of tire life, all tread blocks become vertically thinner hence less absorbent and louder.
Tread wear rating of 560 will wear 5.6 times faster than tread wear rating of 100, hence a hard compound.

People interested in tire traction are likely also interested in rubber hardness - they should buy a Durometer (available for as low as $20 on Amazon) to measure a tire's rubber hardness.
Any enthusiast involved in racing or tracking their car should have a durometer.

What is the current take on these (P7 A/S Plus 3) vs. Continental PureContact LS? They seem competitive in all aspects, perhaps more wet traction?
It isn't available in a size I need for my new wheels but I can vouch for the Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive. That is a winner of a tire for it's purpose.
I am going back and forth between quality grand touring tires such as these vs. something in the UHP class like P-Zero A/S Plus 3 or Conti DWS06 Plus, the latter I've run on a previous car and were great until they wore, and then the noise was pretty insane due to feathering from a worn suspension. The thing I'd probably compromise on the most would be tread wear...sucks to need replacement every 30k or so but I want all the quiet + traction + handling a tire can give...that sounds like the PZero.
I will say I have the Pirelli Scorpion A/S Plus 3 on my MDX in 18" and they are phenomenal in all aspects. I assume the P7 A/S Plus 3 is built on the same basic concept.
