I also noticed some oil consumption with the 0W-20 oil. Last oil change I used 0W-30 Quaker State European car oil (mixed with a little 0W-20 I had left over).
About 1700 kms later, oil level is still pretty much where it was. Fuel consumption increased about 10% though.
From now on I'll be using some form of thicker oil, like this Quaker State 0W-30.

I wouldn't recommend mixing 0w-20 and 0w-30. Would stick to one or the other.

Modern ICE has low tension piston rings so its critical to have quality engine oil . Do a simple compression test and see if all the cylinders have roughly the same compression. You might have sludge and carbon build up due to the recommended extended oil changes intervals. So next oil change try some quality engine flush and even use a higher viscosity engine oil and reduce the oil change interval.

I run a 5w-30 100% synthetic oil as its within the acceptable operating temperature range. Your service manual may be different depending on which country it was printed for?

If it was my engine doing this I would try 2 bottle treatments of Yamaha Ring Free. I would also a spray in cleaning for the upper intake, and change the oil using Mobile 1 Extended service high mileage 3 times at 3k interval with a new factory filter each time. This could clear up some carbon build up in the cylinders and rings. Also in the upper part of the motor. If you look up those 2 products you will see what I mean about the results and effectiveness of them working.

OCI is actually 5k miles for a lot of people, as laid out in the Warranty and Services Guide that comes with the vehicle. To wit, 5k OCI are recommended for anyone that meet at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Driving on dirt roads or on dusty roads
  2. Repeated trips of less than fives miles in temperatures below 32° F
  3. Extensive idling and/or low-speed driving for long distances...
  4. Towing
I bet you most folks in North America meet both criteria 2 and 3...

I'm not sure why this is buried where it is, and I don't recall my dealer ever bringing it to my attention, either.

Neighbors kid bought a new Corolla hybrid in 21 and drives a hundred miles a day round trip for work. He has 40,000 miles on it and has only changed the oil 3 times, the dad said you need to change it more but he wouldn't listen. It will be interesting how the car fares down the road.

Add... wants to keep the car for a while and the engine compression and leak down in top shape not burning oil.
