Default Scraped bumper does it need a repaint?

Atomic Silver GS. Scraped the bumper on a pole. Does it need a repaint or touch up? What would the cost be?

A repaint may be required but I would try a little buffing to reduce the scratches first. Any good compound or all in one polish should work. If you need to purchase, I would recommend the very effective and easily sourced Scratch X. You may find that you can live with the outcome rather than go through the time and expense a repaint would require.

If you want it to look brand-new again, then yes, the bumper cover will need to be repainted.

A rubbing compound may make the scratches less noticeable and will be the cheapest option. Then use some touch-up paint on the really deep scuffs.

Definitely agree with others: try some rubbing compound first to reduce the overall look of the scratches. The rubbing compound often removes scuffs and marks that are surface level making the damage look better.

You have quite a few scratches in that area so i'd be careful about using touch-up paint for all of it. For a few single, isolated spots, touch-up paint works well. But for multiple scratches in the same area, the touch up paint will likely show up too much.

A shop will likely tell you to spray the entire bumper and my best guess would be at least $500-$600.

If you get it wet and the lines disappear than you can cut and buff it out to be very minut. This is because it has only scratched the clear coat and not the base color. Wash it then start with rubbing compound by hand or machine to then move onto a polishing compound followed up by a wax or sealer. Looks pretty superficial so I bet you can get 90% or so to come off. Give it a try, you won't damage anything that can't be undone 👍🏻.
