Default Annoying rattle from center of dashboard. Video attached

Hey all, I just recently bought my first lexus. A 2013 GS350 F sport. I’ve noticed when driving without the radio on there’s this annoying rattle coming from the middle part of the dashboard specifically near the cd area but i can’t pinpoint it. i’ve tried turning the radio on and off, Ac in an off. changed the vent modes. it’s still there but It stops rattling when the car is stopped. I’ve already replaced the sunroof seal because it was leaking. What could it be? Also as a side question what maintenance should i be looking at. i’m approaching 90k miles. Thanks!

My 2016 GS sounds somewhat similar, like a loose screw rattling inside the radio. The sound comes when the car is cold and goes away as the car warms up. I did not have this sound before Lexus of Memphis worked on my radio. I plan to upload my video of this noise on YouTube so that people know about the overhyped quality of Lexus engineering, longevity, and service.

@CharlesW23 - Congrats om the GS 350 F-Sport! Welcome aboard the Club Lexus GS - 4th Gen (2013-2020) forum.

Next time you hear the rattle noise grab a hold of your rearview mirror and squeeze the frame to see the noise stops. That might be the noise, might not. Noises are sometimes difficult to determine where it is coming from. The 2013 had some rearview mirrors with a bit too much play between the mirror itself and the frame which at times - especially during colder weather - caused a humming vibration sound, which could be described as somewhat of a rattle. A tiny thin sliver of something wedged at one edge stops the vibration.

As for 90K mile scheduled maintenance: This is what I personally would have done: Check the Engine Air Filter and replace if needed, Check the Cabin Air Filter and replace if needed, Change the engine oil and oil filter if approaching one year or 10K miles since last change. Check the brake pads and rotors and replace if necessary, Check the Windshield Wipers and replace if needed. I would not do a Brake System Flush unless you track the car or live in a really cold climate area with sub-zero temperatures. I would not replace spark plugs until at least 200k Miles. I would never touch the transmission fluid. I would not replace the differential gear oil.

I think someone posted a similar complaint where the noise went away if they held the dash, above the infotainment screen. I sometimes get the rattle of hot days. If I ever have to take apart he dash for the AC servos, I'm putting fabric tape everywhere.

Talking of the rear view mirror, one thing I noticed on all the GS I drove was that the rear view mirror was always loose. Fixed it it by just tightening the screw. I'm guessing people use garage door button 1 (furthest from center) which would have the most leverage on the mount.
