I currently own a 2016 IS 200t F Sport. Looking at moving up to a GS F Sport. I've heard that tires wearing prematurely as well as brakes are concerns.
Any input on how you like your GS would be appreciated.

Do a search. There is a ton of threads on years, models, packages, difference's, likes, dislikes.
It's the F Sport RWD brakes that most have problems with and are expensive. All RWD cars wear always the back tires wear out faster than the front. You are in MI? Are you going to be shopping for a AWD? Those have some differences in wheels brakes, trans, and more.

Apparently my Dunlop original tires which are overdue for replacement at almost 15k miles have over half their tread life left. As stated on my RWD brakes, I've had zero issues with them with tons of life left in them. I think it all depends on driving style.

I've owned a 2013 RWD F Sport for 2.5 years. No issues with brakes. Haven't had to replace them. I've driven 60,000 kms over this period.
Replaced the tires once, but the original ones weren't new. The rears were close to wearing out though.
These are good cars, albeit pretty low on torque, thus you need to rev them over 4000 rpm for any meaningful power.

f sport front 2 piece rotors are expensive, you can buy a good aftermarket brand to dodge that cost. Centric/powerstop are a good choice. Front tires can have premature inner wear due to the soft factory LCA bushings.. many people swap to the GSF bushings which is about 150 or even better to the Figs bushings which are 350 but more firm than the GSF.

I have a 2013 F Sport AWD with 103k and it’s been pretty much bulletproof. I got about 50k on the front brakes and rear lasted 90k but really depends on driving habits (city vs highway miles). I’ll do some spirited driving now and again but nothing crazy. I used Lexus breaks and rotors because I love the way they feel. No premature wear on tires. Best car I’ve ever owned but my 94 300zx TT is a close second!
