Help with Parking Assist sensor error
Hello,
Recently purchased this 2015 Lexus GS 350 F Sport AWD. I believe one of the parking sensors is bad as I get a system error when I turn on the parking assist. For now, I've just turned off parking assist so I'm not bothered by the error. Is there a way for me to diagnose which specific sensor it is, and how hard of a job would it be to do myself? I took it to the Lexus dealership and they quoted me $1k to diagnose, remove front bumper and replace the sensor (they didn't tell me which one, nor did they scan the vehicle with any tool. I stood right there and watched). The tech said the sensors run about $400 a piece.
thanks!

I'm not sure if you can diagnose which sensor without having Techstream (but I can certainly be wrong about this). Frankly, aftermarket sensors run about $20 for a pack of 4. They are plug-and-play. If you are a DIY kind of person, it should not take too long to replace them. Here are a couple of videos showing the process to remove the bumper if necessary.

Get Carista or a bidirectional scan tool (I use an XTool X30D but there's a cheaper model for under 100) and it'll tell you which sensor it is.
If you can change your own oil or brakes, you can drop the bumper. It's helpful to have another person, but not needed. Front bumper is just a 10 mm socket with an extension and a flathead screwdriver, rear is similar. The sensors are right there once you take off the bumper. I think they snap into a holder, and the holder is held in by double sided tape.
I'd try to get the OEM ones unless someone here knows if there is a Denso equivalent. Just a quick lookup, at Bell Lexus part number 8934153010C1 is 205. They are color matches, so part number will vary based om what color you have, so price is just to give you an idea. Even full price they are 275. Not sure where the tech got 400 from.

First start with washing the sensors with soapy warm water to see if it might just be some debris or dirt blocking any sensors.
If that doesn't work, try to eyeball each sensor to identify if any look scratched or damaged from the outside.
Another option is to go to a good, reputable local body shop and ask them to take a look if you don't want to remove the bumper yourself. It might just be a loose sensor that is causing the problem. They might be able to help identify the problem with a quick bumper removal without charging the ridiculous dealer pricing.
What is the exact warning or message showing up on your dash?

I haven't but I think others on here have? I use the scanner from Xtools that let's you do read the error codes and live data, as well as do whatever tests the module allows. At the very least Carista should allow you to get the error code, which would tell you which sensor it is. I think it lets you do live data as well?
Example, if it says it's C1AE1, it'd be front LH corner sensor.

Just a heads up, it seems there's an additional 14% off discount on Lexus parts (in addition to the usual discount from Bell Lexus or other online Lexus dealers). So that example part number mentioned earlier in the thread for 205 now costs 176.
Of course the coupon would occur after I already got my washer reservoir
