Default 2017 GS350 RWD Tire setup

Hi all,

Picked up a 2017 GS350 RWD lux package a few months ago, absolutely love it. Just under 75k miles now, I do have to drive quite a bit due to school and work, 15k-25k miles per year est.

Car has the luxury package and is pretty much loaded in that regard. Current tires are the OEM Michelin Primacy MXM4's, non-staggered, 235/40 R19 all the way around. They where installed at 44k miles, though one was replaced between then and when I bought it due to puncture. Current tread depth's are 4/32 and 5/32, dealer measured a few days ago when I had it in for oil change and RAB.

I was thinking I'll maybe get another few thousand miles (if that, lol) out of those tires before its time to replace. Was going to keep them at the same size and as a squared setup unless I was really convinced otherwise (although if there is a benefit I wouldn't mind going slightly wider, to 240, 245, etc. all the way around). I don't track the car, really just split highway and city/suburb driving, pushing it sometimes. I'm in Kansas so definitely need all seasons, the Primacy's worked fine with all the snow we got over this winter.

The dealer also noted the brake pads were at 6mm in the front and 9mm in the rear.

After reading a bit I think I'm going to switch to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's, I was just wondering if anyone had any other experience or suggestions. Not to concerned about cost, but would like to have decent tread life, all season performance, and wet performance.

Also drafted a service/maintenance schedule for the car, as the following:

75k service (Done)
  • Oil change
  • Balance and rotation
80k service
  • Oil change
  • Balance and rotation
  • Air filter (self)
  • Cabin filter (self)
  • Alignment (?)
  • Brake job if needed (self)
  • Tires if needed
85k service
  • Oil change
  • Balance and rotation
  • Tires if not done at 80k
90k service
  • Brake fluid flush
  • Coolant flush
  • Alignment
  • Brake job if needed (self)
95k service
  • Oil change
  • Balance and rotation
100k service
  • Oil change
  • Balance and rotation
  • Differential fluid change
  • Transmission fluid flush
120k service
  • Oil change
  • Balance and rotation
  • Spark plugs (self)
I'll probably do the oil changes at 7k miles rather than 5k, but other than that, anything that should be changed and/or added?

Thanks!

My only comments are:
- why not do the Oil Change : Self? If you can do brakes you can certainly do Oil changes.
- why not do Oil Change 5k miles or less ? (You say you want to do 7K ?)
- why would you need a Tire balance and alignment every 5K? Just do those if you suspect it's needed or if you make changes to suspension components in the case of the wheel alignment.

Congratulations on the GS ! Enjoy!

Imo 7k is just right for an oil change interval, I think changed every sub 6k is just diminishing returns.

As to doing oil myself vs at the dealer, it just comes down to not having a lift yet. I’d have to jack up the car way higher to do an oil change vs brake pads/brake job, and I’m not sure my current jack/jackstands would even fit properly.

As to tire balance and the alignment, I’d just meant to put it in there if needed.
