Hi Guys,

First time starting a thread here. I just noticed this one from my chasis, is it something serious? Should I just try to put it back?

Possibly a C clamp?

I don't know about a C-Clamp but some kind of similar type threaded rod clamp with a knurled turn handle. Body shops often use various types of clamps for spreading or prying open, for pinching or squeezing and to stretch. Maybe the car had some bodywork and it was left clamped onto something by mistake.

It looks like a woodworking clamp, though I've used similar ones for car stuff.

I'd take it off. The clamping part is what is sticking down. That looks like the flat bar is wedged in there and a good bump would be what it takes to dislodge. With bad luck, maybe even send it up to a following car.

But the clamp stops are not what's attached, to squeeze. lol! That's weird.

I'm guessing maybe its a makeshift pinch weld clamp or an alignment clamp for welding exhaust pipes.

It would be helpful if the OP took a picture of where this mysterious clamp is attached to the underside of his car.

Looks like it's wedged up between the floor and the plastic. You should pull that out of there.

That could’ve been scooped up from the road surface and ended up being jammed into the undercarriage cover. It isn’t OEM…
