Default The time has come...

Yesterday, I ordered a 2024 Tesla Model 3 and will be taking delivery next week at which time I will say goodbye to my GS. Not leaving the Lexus family entirely though. My wife has a 2024 Lexus NX 450h+ so I'll still be able to scratch my Lexus itch!

Congrats on the new Model 3! I drove one recently for a few days and I think it's the best car Tesla has made to date!! Such a great package and it is SO much more refined now! The ride quality is wonderful now and the driving dynamics are so so fun and rewarding dynamically. Congrats again!

Enjoy!

Did you consider the thrill of a Tesla Model S Plaid; with a heart-pounding 9 second G Force ¼ mile @ 150mph Trap Speed?

I see hundreds of Tesla vehicles within a few miles of where I live every time I go out. I'm also seeing more Tesla Cybertrucks (both SS and matte back) too.

This is a newly built Tesla Collision Center here in Plano, TX.

Get a Tesla Wall Connector Charger or compatible wall charger installed in your garage for reasonably fast charging.

You'll want to feed the wall charger with a dedicated 60 amp circuit using 6 gauge copper 90° rated wire and protected with a 60 amp circuit breaker. The wall charger will draw 48 amps (80% of the circuit rating) or 11.5 KW (11,520 watts) at full continuous charging. This will provide a charge equivalent to 44 miles per hour of charging. It will charge at the full 48 amp continuous charging rate for 10% to 50% of the charge, then will automatically drop back to about 40 amps of charging. You'll likely see the drop back happen quicker if the car still has 20% to 50% charge range when charging.

The Tesla Wall Connector Charger noted above will likely suit your needs, but just so you know:

Tesla now offers a Gen 2 Wall Connector Charger to provide superior charging, designed for all Tesla models, including your Model 3. The high-power output Gen 2 Wall Connector Charger offers up to 20KW (19,200 watts) with an 80 amp (80% of the circuit rating) output, enabling up to 20X faster charging speeds. A dedicated 100 amp circuit is required for the Gen 2 Wall Connector Charger...

@06ls430KTC - What color combo and wheels did you select for the Model 3?

Pearl white paint; black interior; 19” wheels. It’s the long range dual motor version.

When the time comes this will be ready to power any number of EV chargers in multiple garage bays when the time comes! A 1,200 amp 120/240 volt service - consisting of 6 - 200 amp main circuit breaker panels on a dedicated utility transformer, plus a commercial generator with an automatic transfer switch fed with a 2" natural gas line - if the utility power ever goes out.

@06ls430KTC - I suspect (hope) that one day in the not-too-distant future we'll have something like a 'green lane' on Interstates and main highways that will charge EV traction batteries as you drive - much like how a wireless charger recharges a smart phone battery.

At one time not all that long ago people thought cell phones would never be successful. Back then cell towers were very minimal and they were spaced so far apart that you could not depend on making a successful phone call on a cell phone. Spring forward to this decade and cell towers are everywhere with dependable coverage in the most remote backwoods area from coast-to-coast and border-to-border. Everybody has a smart phone nowadays...and wouldn't dare be caught without it...

The same thing can be said for broadband Internet coverage... Nowadays there is fiber optic installed everywhere, even where the buffalos roam.

At one time a gasoline station was a rare sight!

I strongly suspect one day we'll see huge advancements for EVs in terms of charging, in particular charging while you drive. No doubt there will be some sort of feature in the vehicle to turn On to request automatic charging - - and you'll pay for the traction battery charging via a credit card account linked to a chip on the vehicle much like we use for tollways and airport parking. That time is coming! Don't bet against it!

EVs will be what everyone will be driving one day. The ICE will be as old as a horse pulling a buggy. Elon Musk is the perfect person that has the forethought and intelligence to make having an EV as popular and as necessary as having a smart phone.

We were early adopters; we bought a 2018 Model 3 Mid Range RWD and took ownership in Dec 2018. I could not even test drive because I had had ankle surgery. It was really a gift for wifey, as she is very technical and plays a tech role at a leading Silicon Valley high tech company. Options were white paint, alloy wheels and EAP.

We're taking delivery of a M3P Ludicrous in July. Stealth Grey, FSD. Our GS ain't going nowhere. Our 3 will go to family or a friend; it's perfect with 21K. I will hate to see it go.

The Tesla M3P Ludicrous sounds like it will be a winner - on the road and elsewhere...
