As noted in the service records, the tires were replaced years ago and the tires will be a minimum of $1,000 purchase, so they definitely missed the mark and didn’t recondition the vehicle. A couple of door dings and touch up on the paint, so I had to pass on the deal. I own a 2011 Lexus IS350 AWD and have about 86K miles on it to date, but this was certainly a car I considered to “upgrade” to due to the bigger size. Thanks again, all.
The 2013 GS 350 with only 46k miles is no longer available - I guess it's gone or traveling to another CarMax location!

It looks like someone snatched up it.

Amazing! Someone has a 2013 GS with even less miles than me. I'm a tad over 56K miles now.

Hello,

Not sure if this thread is still active, but I currently have this car reserved. I came across it online at the CarMax in Santa Rosa, CA. It is currently being shipped to the CarMax in Roseville, CA. I was directed to this thread by @bclexus and I cannot thank them enough.

If the @gio707 is still following this thread, do you mind letting me know what cosmetic issues or concerns ultimately steered you off from this vehicle?

I plan on doing a 24 hour test drive and get a pre purchase inspection either at the Lexus dealership in Roseville or Sacramento.

I appreciate and thank you all of the information made available on this thread. This has been most helpful.

Default MaxCare or other warranties?

Also, I got the MaxCare warranties quote for the vehicle. Thinking about the $50 deductible option and going with either the option to get me to 100k or 125k miles on the odometer.

Thoughts or other recommendations for warranties besides the one from CarMax? Based on the legendary Doug DeMuro Land Rover CarMax warranty, it seems like a pretty good one. Perhaps the ECU issue will be covered under the warranty, but I would have to read the fine print to see if that is the case.

@gio707 Also, did you see this vehicle at the CarMax in Santa Rosa last month or one in SoCal? Curious as to how it ended up in Santa Rosa and why it was still on the lot as of yesterday. Guess someone else may have considered it and decided not to pursue it.

@PA2017 - I think @gio707 reserved the car and had CarMax ship it to Santa Rosa if I'm not mistaken.

I presume the car has been at the Santa Rosa CarMax ever since it arrived on behalf of @gio707 .

If I did decide to go with the MaxCare warranty on this car I'd most likely go with the deductible and mileage you're considering.

I'm guessing the warranty would end up being a waste of money (because the car is vey reliable), but parts can fail. No doubt, having a warranty provides most people satisfying peace-of-mind.

As for the Network Gateway ECU - I doubt seriously it would be covered by the warranty, but it's relatively inexpensive and quite easy to plug 'n play replace...

If you are doing a loan. Who are you going through?

Ok, saw you said Dad was cosigning. Reason ask is because I think both those Carmax service contracts suck and are a rip off. If you were going through a bank or Credit union they have good service contract for longer terms at much lower cost. My 13 GS is still under warranty for 3 plus more years and 150k right now through a CU.

I think you may have me mixed up with the person that posted the thread below. I read that one which is what made me post about the 2013 GS 350 I am looking at now.

Yeah, I am interested in possibly purchasing an extended warranty. The one from CarMax seems decent. $50 deductible and I think can get it fixed at the local Lexus dealership which is good. Open to hearing about other options though. I know Lexus has a reputation for great reliability, but it is still an 11 year old car. Stuff breaks. Getting a warranty for 5 years and another 50k-75k miles might not be a bad idea.
