Hey y'all. I'm looking at getting a 2013 gs350 RWD for a daily driver (highway miles). Details as follows.
- Asking 12k
- 180k miles.
- Every single option that was available on these at the time (including the Mark Levinson sound system)
- Ceramic coating redone fairly recently
- Recent Maintenance that has been done
- coolant flush , new brake pads/rotors, new shocks and wheel bearings.
Assume that the rest of the maintenance has been done "perfectly" according to the OEM maintenance schedule.
I keep reading about how reliable these cars and engines were.
I'm curious if y'all can give me some advice/direction on it. as to what y'all would pay for one like this, and if it's a pretty safe bet (or not) in terms of reliability at this mileage. Appreciate any responses!
No way to tell you on a post about a 180k GS. You have to get the car on the lift with a Tech that knows the 2GR engine, and look at all other underneath.
If the car has been cared for with the recommended maintenance schedule it'll probably have another 75k-100k miles or more left with possibly just some rather minor stuff like a wheel bearing or motor mount, or shock needed along the way.
You can have a tech check things, but most parts work until they don't! By this, I mean for example, if a water pump or alternator or A/C compressor is working when it's checked there's no way to tell if it will fail tomorrow...and there's really no way to predict when most anything will fail to work. So, as long as you understand that you're buying a high-mileage car you should accept the view that some parts will indeed need to be replaced when they no longer work... You just hope whatever needs repairing is not too expensive, but certainly you'll have some work that needs to be done...

Reason: orthography
There are a myriad of things that can go wrong even with a GS that has less than half that mileage as we've seen with posts lately on the 4GS forum as this generation ages (on the first page of posts you can find folks asking about sensors, suspension, infotainment issues, servo motors, etc.).
I wouldn't pay more than $11k considering it has been driven over 16k miles per year on average. There may be minor items you find or even bigger issues you uncover with a trusted mechanic that would make you consider negotiating a number lower than that. If you do buy it, keep a fund on the side for any costlier repairs that might come up. I have 72k on my '13 GS AWD and as expected, have spent the most money on repairs in the last few years as the car pushes over the 12yr old mark.

Yea that's fair, I plan on it when I have time do get over there. That's why I tried to include "assume the following" about it lol.

Yea minor work I'm not TOO worried about. My current daily is a 2010 mustang gt with 150k miles on it. So I figure the GS will be atleast as, or more reliable than that lol. (atleast that's the hope)

Yea absolutely do plan on looking closer at it to see if it does need anything else. Alot of the main stuff I was worried about maintenance wise (shocks, wheel bearings, etc...) have been replaced this year.
But man, 300k+ would be great, idk why i didn't think to just search. But you're right, there's quite a few for sale with 200-250k +
Yessir! Got it for 11k flat, and drove it home last night.
Thank you for the welcome!
Welcome as a GS Owners to CL! Check in with updates or mods you do. Your GS looks great. I also have a Black GS Lux, not F with Black interior. Don't know what interior color you have?
Try some Leather Honey on the leather interior, it keeps it nice and soft and looking in great condition. Also use a front window sunshield, and clean and use some 303 Aerospace conditioner on the dash. Some GS's and all other cars are getting dash cracking. Over on the pass side near the front airbag.

I appreciate it! It's a black interior as well. Which is not ideal down here, but i'm not gonna complain haha.
I will definitely try the leather honey. There is 1 small crack above the passenger side airbag already, but nothing super noticeable. Already got the sun screen
