Default Modded the GROM VL2

lol I'm out of warranty so I opened that bad boy up. It has a rockchip processor and Samsung memory on a daughter board with no heat sinks ( cooling?? lololol)

I peeled off the boo boo foamish heat interface stuff and got some thermal putty ( UPSIREN U6 PRO Thermal Putty ) and smothered the memory , cpu and even the wifi chip with putty so it would contact the metal case.

10/10 would do again. Boots much faster , and is less prone to dropouts when I'm driving and using wireless CarPlay and cross by a cell tower .

Next mod is to strip the textured coating on the inside of the case "lid" , solder some thin copper plate to it and re apply the thermal paste so I have a true heat sink

Doesn't sound like it needs any. I wonder if two thermal pads + a "choice" piece of alu will be good enough as well.
