Hyundai's challenge to the 4GS:
2012 Genesis Sedan specs:
3.8: 3.8L DI V6, 333 hp/291 lb-ft, 8-speeds Auto. $34,200
4.6: 4.6L DI V8, 385 hp/333 lb-ft, 8-speeds Auto. $44,500
R-Spec: 5.0L DI V8, 429 hp/376 lb-ft, 8-speeds Auto. $46,500
Yes the Genesis's refinement and material is not exactly up to Lexus level yet, but those are some aggressive specs with seriously aggressive pricing.
If the GS-F comes out with 465 hp and $75k~$80k, the R-Spec looks seriously delicious at almost half price.

$Billions divided by 500 units, you do the math
![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
AMG V8 engine is used in every models that sells in tens of thousands of units, every class of MB got an AMG version......C/E/S/SLK/SL/SLS/SLR/CLK/CLS/CL........even ML/G SUV and R-class minivan.

The LFA is pretty much at the same level as a Porsche Carrera GT, go find out how much the engine is in the C-GT. The clutch alone in the C-GT cost almost as much as a new CT200h.

My dream is they mass produce the LFA vehicle and the V10 engine.
That would make the LFA a $180k vehicle and the GS-F would have a 550 hp V10!!

That actually would make decent sense, making the LFA an Audi R8 competitor, the LFA can smoke the V10 R8. Then the GS-F would be competitive against the E63, M5 and RS6.
Us regular Lexus fans would be a lot happiner!

A Ford Boss 302 5.0l V8 crate motor can be had for $12K from Ford racing. This motor puts out 444 HP/ 380 lb/ft TQ. This motor costs $5K *more* than the previous V8 (not competitive with the IS-F motor). Now these are both really nice engines but is one really "worth" almost double the other?
If their goal is exclusivity and recouping R&D costs I guess you can justify the cost. Plus if you own an IS-F or an LF-A and you need a replacement motor you are a captive audience and they can effectively charge what they like or the market will bear. But... Is that the real value of the motor? Not so much.
Back to the regularly scheduled thread.
WRT GS styling and GS-F. Based on the FT-86 concept to the production pictures floating around I'm very afraid of how much blander the production GS could be. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

E class and 5 series are clearly market leaders here.

Now I would be interested in buying a daily with lighter weight and better handling suspensions. That's way more important to me.

new cls is growing on me for sure, the interior is huge step up from before. problem is still the front grille, only the amg model has that fixed. i doubt the 4gs will carry that much of the cls though. lines are too slick for the 4gs to be practical. but i can see the 4gs go in the f10 5 series direction

I'm sorry I don't find it beautiful at all, the last model yes (but a lot of people disagreed). The new model doesn't look coupe-like at all. Just the usual new Benz mess of huge grill, weird headlights, tacked on LEDs, random lines in the body, weird arches in the rear with a bland rear. But hey it sells!
The interior does seem well done, steering wheel looks nice.
Lexus simply needs to offer a CLS/A7 competitor as well as a GS.
