Although Lexus upgraded the nav system the following year, and eventually the GS430 was updated to the GS460, it just seemed that Lexus rushed the 3rd gen GS to the market. Even though the initial reviews of the 4th gen GS are promising, I'm not impressed that new GS is launching with a carryover engine and 6 speed transmission. And the lack of a V8 option is truly disappointing. Regardless of the lackluster MPG, the E550 and BMW 550 are both fantastic cars to drive and have ridiculous amounts of power.
However, the interior of the new GS looks great. I can't wait to see what the final production model will look like. I would definitely like to add a Lexus into the stable in the next couple years...hopefully a GS-F

That's what worries me. I picked up my 2006 GS430 the first year the 3rd gen GS was released. Was extremely disappointed that the V8 was a carryover from the previous gen and the nav system wasn't even the most current version available (unlike the IS which was released shortly thereafter).

How about letting Yamaha get their hands on that 5.7 liter engine? Same family as the IS-F's engine, but that way it would be easier to distinguish the two in power and hierarchy, as I'm sure a Yamaha 5.7 could get 500 hp easily.
