4GS mega thread (UPDATED; preview drives, specs, more interior pics)

until i see the proof with my own eyes at the dealership or through lexus advertising that it's coming out for sure 100%, i will remain guarded about the future availability of the GS-F.
huh? doesn't have the V8 feel? when i stomp on the gas pedal with 'power' switch on, i can feel my back pushed back against my seat. i would recommend you test drive the GS450h to see for yourself.
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought they detuned the GS460 because they didn't want the same hp output as the LS460? if true, it's not to match the GS460 to GS450h power output, but detune so it doesn't compete with LS460 in terms of hp.
That make sense, the current GS450h have always been advertised as having V8 power, and it does......even though in my opinion it doesn't have the V8 feel, it just got the V8 peak power. They even purposely detuned the current GS460 to 340 hp to matched the V6 hybrid power.....they are trying to ease us into that idea.

Tentatively it appears there will be a GS 250 for the European market, GS 350 and GS 450h for the U.S. market. Hopefully we'll get a GS F. Too bad there is no GS 460...bummer but who knows maybe Lexus might bring it back...I'd like to see:
GS 200d (European market)
GS 250 (European market maybe Chinese market)
GS 350
GS 350C
GS 460
GS 460C
GS F
GS 450h
It does seem like there's too many variants...

Lol, a GS Cabriolet? I'm not too sure on that. Anyways, we'll see.
Btw, put in a possible GS diesel version (which may or may not come into Europe depending on what mood Lexus is in or will be in)
Anyways, I'm hoping for something similar to your list. Either way, I just hope that the GS-F with at least 500 hp if ever it will come.

GS-C = GS Coupe version. Cabrio GS would look too funny. Also, I'm not too sure that we're ever see a diesel GS. Lexus is good with hybrids, so I don't think they're very interested in investing in diesel engines

It's just a possibility though.

BMW has 9 power trains for the 5 series:
523i
528i
535i
550i
520D
525D
530D
Active 5 Hybrid
M5
And that's just sedan variants. They also have 6 body styles of the 5 series:
5 sedan
5 GT
5 wagon
6 cabrio
6 coupe
6 sedan

They need both a 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder diesel to compete in Europe. Diesel hybrid would be a good move to build their credibility in Europe.

I'd love to see Lexus go full press with a GS 250, GS 350, GS 500 (V8), GSh, and GSF in the States.
Will that happen? Obviously not...but...I'd love to see a 250ish HP GS 250 here. I think that would be a great move for sales. Look at how many 528is you see....

no one knows the exact reason for the gs460 power. what you said is one rumor, people also say maybe they can't fit the engine intake and had to compromise, etc...
it's only stupid of lexus if they detune the car not to compete with ls. gs430 matched power of the ls430 and they were just fine

Anyone that has seen the CT can see Lexus tried to make it aggresive but its tough b/c of the FWD architecture and proportions. There is so much the designer can do to tranfer Lexus DNA to this car. The CT is much boxier up front with minimal detailing.
In contrast this GS was designed with an all new RWD platform to be aggressive up front. They might share cues but that is all. Part of the reason these cars are more expensive is the detailing and efforts made in styling compared to cheaper cars.
I'm positive when the final product debuts, you will not think "OMG CT".

You described power output, yes the 450h feel as strong as a 460, it might even feel stronger. What I meant by "feel" is the linearity of the power delivery, also the smoothness, no V6 is as smooth as a V8, there is nothing you can do to fake it.
GS430 had 300 hp, LS430 had 290 hp.
Well that's the claimed #, I secretly think they all got the same power due to the same engine, they just claim it differently for marketing purposes.
They did that from 1998 to 2006, 8 years......why do you think all of a sudden they don't want the GS460 have the same, or more power then the LS460?
The GS is a smaller, sportier car, it make sense for it to have more power. The LS is a bigger full size couch, very few people cross shop the 2, they feel totally different, there is zero concern of them competing with each other. We currently owns both, I made the purchasing decision twice, truth me, people only want one or the other. Sporty or comfort.

I see their reasoning. They want to ease us into the idea of a V6 Hybrid having the same power as a V8.......we won't get that idea if the V8 got 40 more hp won't we? Just like how Audi want us to believe the supercharged V6 is just as cool as a V8 in the S4.
