4GS mega thread (UPDATED; preview drives, specs, more interior pics)

Did you see the E Class Convertible. Looks pretty good.
Here is a pic of a GS convertible. I think it would have been more practical than the IS convertible.

All I want to see is a GSF be released.
I really hope Lexus steps it up for the next GS and they put a lot of focus on the interior quality! The 2gen GS is a classic and one hell of a car that was way ahead of its times IMO. This has set a very hard benchmark to beat for all future GS models in all areas (quality/design/ect...)

In the FWIW department ... I was in the dealership earlier tonight, and my SA said that he heard the GSF would be coming out in 2012 as a 2013. Fact or fiction? Only time will tell.

The E-Class convertible is actually a C-Class when you dig into it. The e-Class chasis is too long and would be too heavy or lack the rigidity in convertible form. So the E convertible is more like the IS-C and a direct competitor of the 3 series convertible.

I am thinking now that maybe Lexus pushed back the 4GS after seeing what the competition has brought. This entire segment is fantastic and Lexus has to be VERY AWARE of this fact.
It is my preference that a car have a longer life cycle, especially a luxury car. I don't want my car to change significantly every 5 years, no thanks.

^^^ As much as I agree with you guys...... Unfortunately, at this stage I dont think there is much Lexus can do, besides some minor interior / exterior improvements.
Since, I'm sure that the 4GS is almost complete (if not already being tested in Japan). Then again, we have not seen the 4GS yet. Maybe it will blow the competition away as is, without any improvemnts. And if Lexus is really working on a GS-F, then I'm sure they are fully aware of the fact that the 4GS should look sporty and eye-catching.

i guess the main structure on the 4gs is there already and harder to change, but when looking at luxury vehicles, a lot of times it's about the extra gadgets, and those a lot of times can be changed if needed. if they make the mistake again of reduced interior / trunk space, then umm... that's a bit epic

Update on rth Gen GS
As the guy who started this thread, I was/am motivated to learn what I can about the next gen GS. I remembered that a very close friend's son is an executive with Lexus-USA. We called him last Friday and he called back within 10 minutes telling us that as of May 15, 2010, the 4th gen GSis 18-24 months away.
Gen 1 1992-1997 (6 years)
Gen 2 1998-2005 (8 years)
Gen 3 2006-2010 so far (5 years so far)
As much as I want to see/drive/buy Gen 4, 18-24 months is in line with historical norms.
