JD Power's "initial quality report" for the GS (which took tops in its class) states:
"The next-generation Lexus GS is expected to arrive for the 2012 model year."

Just more speculation....

Here's more speculation. Will they kill the ES and try to shift ES buyers to either GS or IS? In this instance, they may separate sport and comfort versions for the GS to keep the ES buyers happy while trying to attract more buyers from BMW and Audi with the Sport version.

The ES is the best selling luxury sedan. Its not going anywhere. It has been either #1 or #2 in sales since 1992. It is a winner every year for Lexus.
This is speculation but the IS/ES have been the sport/luxury entry here. Maybe
IS/HS entry level sport/luxury
GS/ES mid level sport/luxury
This way the GS can get sportier. Though again, the GS was 3rd best in sales in class until last year.

Here's the latest out of the mouth of a Longo Lexus sales rep: GS was to be available September as a 2011 model but the Prius accelerator problem set back the GS time line (Lexus wanted the release before the holiday season). Not sure what one has to do with the other.
4GS has been pushed back to a March release to be a 2012 model. Sales rep guess-timated pictures would be 'leaked' about four months prior (as they were for the ES and IS). He hasn't seen any pictures but was told sheet metal changes were from cues of the latest MB E class.
Not sure what to believe anymore. But as I counted 23 GS' on their lot, I tend to think a March release date sounds about right.

This could be the right way for Lexus to go with the GS and LS V8.

According to autoblog.com , the new GS will be coming out in 2011, which will be for the 2012 model
" It helps to have an excellent eye for detail when trying to find the updated features on a Lexus IS. A facelifted IS caught in China, said to be taking the model through 2012, will get LED running lights in the headlight clusters, redesigned fog lights and taillights, revised chrome trim for the steering wheel and glovebox and a tweaked wheel design. Right now Lexus is paying attention to the LFA and the new GS coming in 2011, so if you were hoping for more from the small sedan, mark your calendars for two years from now."

Link above says the revised GS is coming in 2011 (read towards the end of the story). Seems like all Lexus models will have LEDs.

I bet Lexus doesn't have a technology center in Palo Alto nor will they have features like this anytime soon!

Of course what would be cooler is if they introduced an API allowing full app control through the vehicle controls.

Updated with what I've heard through the grapevine........
-GS 350 name will continue with a bump in HP
-GSh will continue, not sure of power/MPG bump
-GS 460 will not be replaced. The business case for the V-8 was nill since the hybrid will continue to provide V-8 power with better MPG and the V-8 GS never sold well (though this is IMO some of their own doing with the V-8s the 3GS got)
-Interior is amazing, a significant step up i style and quality
-12" screen in the interior with remote touch
-The drive will be significantly sportier and more in tune with the 5 series
-GS F is likely coming but hasn't been given the 100% approval yet
-Exterior a blend of curves with the traditional GS features
I'm expecting we will see some photos soon
