Lexus is stubborn in their policy only to sell US models in the US and European models in Europe. And Asian models in Asia (not even allowing to order from another Asian country). So you can only buy Lexus with European specifications in Europe. If you want one with US specifications, you need to buy it in the US and import it yourself to Europe...but it can be very difficult to register a Lexus with US specifications in Europe. Actually in many European countries it is practically impossible. I once made an enquiry on this to the Lexus Europe HQ, in the hope of importing a GS350 (not sold in Europe at all). I was warned not to try to do that as the car could be blocked by the customs. ..... Hopefully it works better the way you suggest (to buy European specifications in Europe and later on to import and register it in the US).

so many models at the same time?!?! umm... not sure if that's a good idea... look at what happened when 2is, 3gs, 3es, and 4ls all debut within 2 yrs. i would rather see the cars released one after another, to somewhat help keep the brand fresh. unless lexus is having some crazy ideas on even more new models coming out

Henry I agree. New Camry around teh corner means new ES and IS/GS share platforms.
GS debuted in Feb 05 as 06 model and IS fall 05 as 06 model. ES debuted spring 06 as 07 model.
I assume if this does happen they bring out the coupes and F versions and hybrids a year or two after to keep things interesting.

Ah, this is one of the things I forgot from SEMA: the 4th gen GS is currently planned to release in 2012 as a MY2013 and will be "amazing", "huge step up" from current gen (actual quotes).

For all the "he said he said" statements, surprisingly very little information about the car itself...

haha, ok, i will continue to build up my hope on the 4gs. lexus better now disappoint otherwise...
mike, it would be good if the f models come out a yr later (no more than that otherwise it's "old" again). i would think ls460 can wait another yr before debut rather than colliding with the gs/is release. as much as these cars target different segments, but if everything is released together, marketing is going to be tough

The GS-F is what will get all the attention, after some of those LFA deliveries are out of the way...
What's great is that it won't be a "skunk works project" à la 08' IS-F.
They are building it from the ground up.. with a firm purpose...!!!

I'm fairly certain that the ES will be a 2012 model. 7th gen Camry production starts in the spring of next year as a 2012 model and the ES has to be shortly there after.
So 2013, for the GS, eh? The E, 5 and M will probably be refreshed by then, there will be a new A6 and probably an XF. We will see how this pans out.
I guess the comments from Toyota/Lexus execs a while back about shorter model cycles and more updates didn't apply to the GS . Since we are going to be looking at this car for another 2 years it would be nice if they gave it another refresh like the IS got. I just don't understand anything that they have done with this car.
That said, it does space the product launches out relatively well:
2012 ES
2013 IS and GS
2014 LS
Also factor F models and coupes in there.

Not feeling having so many models debut all at once either. VW did that with the previous couple generations of the Jetta/Passat/Golf and at the end of the life cycle, sales were crazy low. IF they do that, they need to keep it fresh with new models (coupes, trim packages, etc)
So if it goes on sale in 2012 as a 2013 model, then we may still see it pop up on the show curcuit sometime in 2011.
