camry? try 3500lb

and on luxury cars, more electronics, more wiring, etc.... if you think wiring and harnesses in total don't take up that much weight, then you are wrong. manufacturers get a lot of headaches from all the wires inside the cars, and they are actively seeking for solutions..

The GS is already smallest in class (which I like) but seems the trend is to make this class bigger and heavier (which I don't really like). If I want a LS sized car I'll buy a gotdamn LS. ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I think Lexus has to go with the flow here and make the GS bigger like the competition.

Actually yeah, that's the V6 model, the 4 cylinder SE with the manual trans weighs 3285lbs. According to Toyota's site, while the SE with the V6 weighs 3483lbs. So it's the weight of the engine and the Autobox there with the Camry. The GS could weigh close to 3500/3600lbs. in F trim if they cut the sound deadening material and add carbon fiber in places. Or save weight in the engine department, it seems like a Tall order, but who knows, I think it's possible.

Saw it in my copy of Road and Track - another "F" to be added and a couple more get the F Sport treatment as early as 2012.
Lexus’ F Troop - New and Future Cars
The GS F will represent the highest-performance trim level.
Read all about it - http://www.roadandtrack.com/future-cars/lexus-f-troop

I read that same article yesterday. At first I thought it was an "ISF-R." I think that rendering is from a few years ago when the ISF first came out. That looks more like the IS than the GS, with exception to the separate DRL housing.

The color and look is an eyesore. For a $90k-100k price the GS-F should make at least 500hp. A detuned version of the LFA motor would be a nice touch instead of the V8.

Aren't R&T renderings of new cars always terrible? I mean, the new 2012MY 3IS they had an article about had an awful rendering and the front had a TOYOTA emblem... I'm pretty sure they just have a photoshop team and they pick the most radical design to gain attention for the article. I would hope even Toyota/Lexus know the GS-F picture in the article would not sell. Competing with the M5 is a good market to pursue, although not a huge market.

about the price, the web site says it starts at 49K INCLUDING a 7500 tax credit, so base price is actually 56.5k i guess, and don't those 7500 tax credits only cover a certain qty of sales per year?
about the range, it has diff. battery packs from 160 to 300 mile range. i bet the entry model won't have 300 mile range.
besides the above, and that it's vapor until 2012, the car is all aluminum so i expect it to be a lot more expensive than a GS, but we'll see.\
but if it's as you say, then the GS would be toast, right?

It would be the same price range as a Lexus GS.
