I like this new green they have, it looks so good on LS. Unlike IJM it shifts toward yellow/gold. Looks very warm.

That would be great, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

i hope at least they bring a prototype.

gauge the consumer reaction, and modify if necessary. the GS is pretty critical.

if it's a hit, maybe some people might hold off buying an E or 5, and wait till 2012

I really hope so. Seeing the 4GS will answer many questions about the future direction of Lexus.

I love the FT-86. Would be nice if this paint scheme was available on the 4GS.

Nope, those pics are real. Lexus is just using the current body to test things out, like the new engine, suspension and whatever else is new inside.

Oh and if they are really bringing the GS to NY show, then I'll be there on the opening day for sure

It would be great to see the next GS at the New York show. I have been anticipating some debut this winter/spring for a year now. I hope Lexus gets it right.

The color on that FT-86 looks like smokey granite. I sure hope the FT ends up being called a Toyota and not a Scion. I think they will loose a lot of sales if it ends up being a Scion. It needs to be the next Celica.

dunno if this is old news or already been discussed, but i was thinking maybe lexus will not do a V8 for the 4GS, only a v6 and hybrid of some kind. i think this makes sense with fuel economy and that lexus has made hybrids a key part of its strategy. i think the v8 model will just continue to have very low sales and not add much to the brand any longer (although i love the quiet, smoothness, and low end torque of v8s!). thoughts?

there have been plenty of rumors that the normal (not f line) lineup won't have v8

but if you ask me, in this fierce segment, no v8 vs 550i and e550, a bit tough

Not to sound unsympathetic, but the current earthquake/tsunami may delay this???

(the sad icon is for the residents in Japan, not the Tokyo auto show delay)

V8 is mostly for bragging rights, if they up GR and have another GSh, doing GS-F within reasonable time period will be fine.

Or they might offer it anyway, just like now, as low volume option.

however, if the manage to package hybrid well, there is really no need for ordinary V8.

true, but the reality is, with relatively low sales outside the u.s., a v8 may not be justifiable. of course it's a self-fulfilling prophecy if the line is constrained, but i the 5 series for example has the wonderful and powerful 535i so the 550i is a little hard to justify, but bmw sells so many 5's worldwide that they can have a bigger line that lexus and the GS.

lexus of course has 3 small to midsize models IS, ES, GS lines where BMW, Audi, and MB do with 2 models (3/5, A4/A6, C/E) which for lexus as least, dilutes the more specialized GS. it's debatable which strategy is better, because the ES is perfectly adequate and desirable (with the more expensive/complex rwd and other components) and costing less to make gives it an edge over 4/A6/E. i think it short changes the IS some though, which is less functional/small than the 3/A4/C models.
