Most likely not the 4GS, but I am pretty anxious to see what they do to the 3IS and 3IS-F.

Once I see what the 450h will look like than I will decide but most likely I'm getting the new GS a year after it debuts.

I really wanted to like the new 4th gen, and eventually get one within the first couple years. However, I dont. I want a performance sedan that excells in all aspects. The fact that the V6 and the hybrid are both lackluster performers automatically takes the GS out of consideration for me. How is it that my 9 year old GS has a V8 and is just as fast as a brand new GS coming out next year? Should there not be progression throughout the years in terms of performance? I think so.

We are getting ready to trade my 06 Lincoln LS in during the next couple weeks. Due to a recent baby, we have decided upon a full-size suv. However, when it comes time to replace my wife's car next year, we will be looking at the BMW 550 with M Sport package or the Jaguar XF Supercharged.

0-60 in low to high 5s is lackluster? The hybrid will also net you around 30 MPG average compared to the 18 MPG of GS 400/430. Mind you the new GS weighs the same as a 12 year old GS 400 while having technology, features etc that blow it out the water.

The cars you mentioned sadly there is no GS to compete with them right now so that point is solid. Shame on Lexus for having no V-8. I completely agree with you that its a shame they don't offer a 400hp or so V-8 and we are stuck with a 350 that is as fast as a 400/430 (with better MPG) and a GS 450h that is slightly faster.

There is a tremendous gap left with no near 400hp V-8 and shame on Lexus for not offering it.

I will purchase one for my wife (currently driving an 06 GS430) because of, believe it or not, the availability of the "blind spot" detection option. The rear side visibility of her GS still makes her very uncomfortable while changing lanes, even after driving the car for 4-5 years.

If I have money, then I would. It seems better than the 3GS in every aspect (especially with the branded sound system and the features).

However there are some things that are uncertain:

1) The absence of a V8 version
Right now, the 4GS has no V8. I remember the GS 460 had more than 340 horsepower........even without direct injection. It felt like a blast.

Now, we're not sure if a V8 will come or if it will come, well it might come later. It's either if or when.

Which also brings us to another point

2) GS-F: Will there be one or not?
*Assuming price/cost is not a factor here*
If there will be one, then why buy a 4GS now?

GS-F> F-sport package version

Stuff like that.....

You will be able to place an order on custom config in December (per my dealer). If you looking to test drive and buy, then you will need to wait until Feb. Pricing probably will be slightly over current version. I will be negotiating $ over invoice if pricing will be still not available in Dec.
