Got to see the new 2013 GS350 AWD today
I saw the all-new GS350 AWD today in person. This was a very nicely optioned car. There were tons of people around the car (as to be expected) so pictures were limited. Lexus reps would not allow access to engine or trunk, only interior. One thing that I also could not photograph, but saw in person, was an all-new Smart key fob. It looks like the current one, just updated, slightly smaller, and more edgy in style.
Some things not mentioned in the pro reviews:
The build quality has increased even more over previous generation. The fit and finish is excellent. New Audi-style floor mats clips are new. The new LED DRL's make the car look more European. It is equally as quiet when running as the current GS. The drivers seat has an extender, which I believe is new. Mouse control on the huge Nav is new.

I really liked the overall design. Very edgy and European for a Lexus. The rear tail lights are a little strange, somewhat like the new Camry. Overall, I didn't see anything too odd beyond the tail lights. I'm interested to see what the option package is officially called that includes the rear controls seen in the picture. The heads-up display is a nice touch. I didn't get a picture of that, but it was on the car.

i believe this is just prototype right? i think we will see the real fit and finish when mass production hits
interesting they didn't allow trunk opening, that's a bummer. want to hear more people's opinions about it
thanks for all the pics!

I think this was an initial or pre-production vehicle. Everything worked on this vehicle. I watched the rep drive it in.The nav was on, all the lights worked, it had a full VIN, ect... I even touched some of the buttons and they all worked. I wouldn't call this a prototype.

Looks like the same one I inspected last week.....I opened the trunk..its HUGE, seriously dude, 100% German back there. I couldn't even touch the backseat thats how deep it was. Great job by Lexus there, about time.

Isn't the engine bay large enough for a V8? There hasn't been any spyshots of the engine bay anywhere on the internet. Can't wait to see the 4GS at the L.A. auto show next month...

but i think in some way the truth is, car size of this, there should be no problem putting in v8 at all. the car already has to deal with all the hybrid setup. the 3gs had problem with the v8 but it's more on the hood clearance iirc. the engine bay itself i think is plenty. they put a 5.0l v8 in the 2is chassis. someone correct me, but i believe that was a garage project after the 2is was signed off, meaning the chassis wasn't fully designed with v8 in mind?
