IMO the biggest weakness of this car's design isn't the grill, it's the standard headlights. It needs the LED ones badly, they should be an option for every trim level.

As part of vehicle standard equipment for their market, yeah I guess so.

But there is always a way

Hence, if I ever I order a Lexus 4GS, I will NEVER buy from the dealer (no fog lamps and some features might be deleted)

Instead, I will go to the factory from Lexus Japan and order my 4GS from there (where I have the liberty to order ALL features, equipment and options)

Hehe not really. The car will still be LHD of course (since first and foremost, RHD vehicles are banned from being driven in Philippine roads).

The only difference is of course instead of getting a 4GS at the dealer (Lexus Manila), I make special arrangements with Lexus Manila and form a delegation where for example, I (as a potential buyer for instance) would be part of the delegation from Lexus Manila when I get to purchase my 4GS.

I would specify what features and options I want for my 4GS and then the Lexus Manila people will coordinate with the Lexus Japan factory people on specifics like shipping, logistical arrangements, how to ensure the release of the vehicle in case corrupt Philippine customs agents want to do something nasty, etc. etc.

In a way, it's somewhat similar to what BMW does with its European Delivery program that you guys have there stateside where buyers are sent to BMW Germany................except of course, I do not wish to drive my car on Japanese public roads.

Technically, you can drive LHD car in Japan (which is an RHD country) but the LHD<->RHD differences will confuse the heck out of me. If ever, I'll only wish to test drive my LHD 4GS on factory grounds and/or a specified test track.

But yeah, you get the concept.



P.S.
This is the reason why when it comes to premium cars like these, I would avoid buying from an official dealer directly (i.e. buying their dealer stocks). For instance, our 2IS sold here (IS300) does not come with Mark Levinson (as seen in this pic of my test drive unit):



You can see that this is only the base-level sound system (because there is no Mark Levinson logo anywhere on the centre console)

Hence:
This is just one reason why I choose not to buy dealer stock units.

But Lexus doesn't offer anything like European delivery does it? Not in the US at least. Do you know if they offer that in Philippines?

I doubt such a thing is available here either............unless I make friends with Danny Isla and the Lexus Manila management team.

And hey, if I decide to buy a 4GS, then they would see me as a prospective buyer..........but who only wishes to buy when he gets exactly what he wants out of his purchase

I figure some kind of arrangement can be made and set-up (i.e. this happened in the past when some guy wanted to make an intent order for a Honda S2000 a few years back).
