I see, now that is impressive. Speaking of BMW, who in their right mind would buy a 5er that is pushing 70k, heck not me. That money can buy a nicely equipped Lexus LS....

while the prices are looked at that way, if you look at the leasing part, which a lot of bmws and mbs are sold as, they are far more attractive

people buy cars for different reasons, if you purely talk about values then there are people wondering why spend the kind of money on lexus too.

As to the price comparo, you can take off 1k or 2k off 75k but thats still where it is at. Lexus starts cheaper, is better equipped plus has significantly cheaper options, it all adds up. Sport package from 5 series adds active dampers, enables sport shifter, all which Luxury package for GS has. You lose 1" from wheels, but gain in leather dash, bigger nav, etc, etc. It is hard to really pin point it exactly.
Now how will people compare it? Not sure... For some people, they will try loaded up GS and compare it to "cheaper" base BMW.... Some will not.
IMHO, I had 3GS for 3 years, and it was loaded up GS350 AWD. I got it for either 48k or 51k,after nice discount at the time(it was without PCS). I feel that today base plus nav for 51k would give me more of the car, with much nicer interior, leather dash, awesome seats, bigger trunk, much much better multimedia/nav... AND nicer handling... all of which IMHO were main detractors from GS in the past.
