yeah its kinda lame, but hopefully it prevents lexus from shutting off all connected car services once 3g "goes away". IIRC the GS cell module is 3g, so unless Lexus is going to provide an updated HW module, they will have to keep 3g services running with the carriers.....

I wanted to bump this thread to talk about an OEM alternative. I found this remote start system for sale by Amazon and Walmart for ~$150 https://shop.mypushcart.com/plug-n-p...5-lexus-gs350/
It looks like it installs like the OEM system, uses your original keys, and functions just like OEM.
Has anyone tried this or have any insights?

Viper has a special going on now for $249 installed (DS4+) for the remote start and it works with your OEM keyfob. I have this installed in my 4GS along with the remote app subscription which comes with 1 year free ($550 installed by Viper dealer).
Order from Viper.com and they will ship it to your address. You pick the nearest Viper dealer when you place the order. After the items arrive take it to them for free installation. Hope it helps!

So I installed this (https://shop.mypushcart.com/plug-n-p...5-lexus-gs350/ $150 on Amazon) this weekend and it works amazing. Uses your factory key by pressing the lock button three times. After that, everything works like the factory unit but for half the price. Install took about 15 minutes in my driveway, there is a T harness for the ECU and a T harness for the steering lock. You need to tap 2 CAN wires and you are done.
I will be installing the smartphone module this week when it arrives and will post my updates.

It's a $40 difference in price.
MPC Drone Telematics Module Add-on Remote Car Starter Using Your Smartphone
and

It's a $40 difference in price.

The drone mobile has a larger yearly subscription cost. MPC smartphone one gets first year free, then $39 a year or $99 for three years

MPC is just rebranded Fortin Evo remote start system.
https://fortin.ca/en/vehicles/lexus/...push-to-start/
They just flash the module for you.
Also this is the company that makes the smartphone remote start product with subscription:
https://www.carlinkusa.com/ASCL6/
They also have a bluetooth based smartphone app with an antenna you mount to the windshield that gives it over a mile range. So you can remote start your car from an app a mile away without paying a yearly subscription:

Who the hell needs to warm up their car from over a mile away anyways, lol.

EDIT: Realizing to get that range you need to use their bluetooth remote. I dont want to carry another remote, so I'm going to try the smartphone LTE adapter first

You would have to reflash the MPC or fortin module to get it to communicate with the bluetooth long range kit. So there are a few extra steps involved in setting it up.
I'm going to ask MPC if they plan on offering this product also in the future, because they would do all the setup for you and it would be plug and play.
Also the company that makes the smartphone app lets any company like MPC put their logo in the app.

^That makes more sense
And I noticed the rebranding scheme that all these devices have. My Evo ALL currently is flashed to accept the LTE module, not sure about the Bluetooth one.
