Now Lexus: give us the goods they enjoy in Japan and Europe and bring the triple LED and fog lights to the F Sport!! Maybe the 2014 GS will have it
Agreed. Noticeably the L-finesse design has made the Lexus more refined and elegant than before --- that's the time when Lexus brand was available in Japan. As a long term fans of Lexus, I find the choice of material and quality in the interior has improved over previous Lexus models.

Doing well this early in Japan is not an indication the car will be a hit.

I don't care how many people buy it, it's still unattractive. I just hope someone makes a bodykit that sweetens it up. After all is said and done, I'd prefer my favorite car company do well with all their cars....if if I don't like a particular model.
I actually think it looks better than the last model! In darker color for me.

This is GS 350 ONLY, not even including GS 450h which should help out 10-15%

Lexus February 2012 Sales Report

Clips from: February 2012 Sales Conference Call

USA
February is in the books, and Lexus has reported total sales of 16,678 units for the month, for a 15.9% increase over 2011 — here are the model-by-model stats:

The new GS accounts for much of the month’s success, with a 559.1% increase (!!!) over 2011 -
Tm Morrison, Lexus USA’s VP of sales, had this to say during the monthly sales conference call:
  • GS sales totalled 2,396 units…and we’re very excited about the mix…
25% of GS sales have been F-Sport Models…so true driving enthusiasts have taken notice.

Early data indicates the new GS has also been successful in bringing a new buyer into our showrooms…with 30% new to the Lexus brand…and 40% under the age of 50.

The 2013 LX 570 also arrived in dealerships last month, and had a more modest (but still impressive) sales gain of 34.7%, and both the CT 200h and the ES 350 had strong February sales.

On the flipside, GX 460 sales continue to drop as the SUV enters its third year of sales, and the LS has started to show some fatigue after six years on the market. The RX is also lagging somewhat, but is sure to rebound once the 2013 update is revealed in Geneva next week (officially confirmed today).

Canada
Lexus Canada didn’t release their total sales for February, but the GS did have a banner month with 62 sales, a 244.4% increase over last year.

P.S... The 2013 GS pulled off 2,396 sold units (USA) in ONLY 23 days of selling in February...
Now that's AWESOME..!!

Very strong out of the gate for the 4GS, I didn't expect it to do this well.

I'm freaking out about the the GS sales figures in Japan. Almost 6000 and that's just preorders. Amazing!

Don't believe everything you hear.
Didn't we hear that all the LFA's were pre-order sold outs? I believe that turned out to be not true.
It could be that old sales trick of telling people the product is moving well which makes others want to get one too.

I can understand fudging the numbers a little but 6000 is SIX TIMES the expected numbers so I doubt they would lie so egregiously.

At the very least, the 4GS is selling much better than the 3GS -- as it should --- it's a much better car and the market has correspondingly voted with their wallets.

It would do Lexus more harm than good to lie or fabricate. Historically they have been one of the more honest auto companies.

Besides it's no different than when the LS, GS, CT, HS etc all launched in Japan, sales exploded against forecasts. One thing to also remember Japanese culture likes the latest/greatest thing tech wise.

Lexus is the only Japanese luxury brand sold in Japan and went from the bottom to the top in sales there.

what Japanese companies usually do is quote low number for their expectations (well number over the life of vehicle) and then PR big 1 month sales.

However lets put 6000 into perspective - Lexus sales in Feb/2012 in Japan were 3k per month, out of which 1.5k was CT200h... so yes, those are pretty big numbers for Japan as Lexus sells 5x-10x less cars there than in USA.

Why set the benchmark high then end up failing to reach that number? That's stupid logic. And saying they set the bar low so beating it is for PR is just as stupid IMO.
