I assume you meant to ask about requirements to join... if so, go to penfed.org - click the join penfed link at the top (and if you don't meet any of the criteria listed, click "none of the above" - $15 or $20 one time charge at the most)

USAA recently offered me 1.79% for 60 months. I bought a new RX in December, and got a 60 month loan from LFS for the full purchase price at 0.9%! I like to pay cash, but that kind of rate is tough to refuse.

Seems like a crappy deal. I think I'm just going to purchase! I still want a better deal than $1000 off. Do you know of any dealers in the North East that might be willing to meet me somewhere at invoice?

Thanks guys!
How can a dealer refuse MSDs? Maybe they are not using LFS?

I did not. But I do plan on purchasing it when I need to from the same person I bought my last one from (which was aprox 50% less than what my dealer wanted)

I bought the extended warranty through Lexus dealership. Its 8 years / 100k miles for $2600. Did I get ripped off? I'm planning on keeping the car at least 6 years. After 6 years, possibly selling the car or keeping it for even longer

I wouldn't say you got ripped off but you certainly could have saved some money. I purchased the extended warranty for my 2007 GS350 from Troy of Greenfield Toyota (got his info from clublexus) and got the 6 year/100,000 mi extended warranty for around $1200 (don't remember exactly)

Since the car already comes with 4 yr/50k mile warranty, $1200 was really for 2 yr/50k warranty above and beyond the standard factory warranty for $1200.

I'd say to keep the $1200 in the bank and start spending it after 4 yrs...

I went for the 8 year warranty. Coming off an Audi, I am paranoid. Maybe not necessary in a Lexus, but peace of mind is worth it to me... Remember, even minor electric items in these cars easily will cost greater than $500 each to repair--I remember my adaptive headlights in my Audi broke TWICE, each time costing $1000...

That's why I got the Premium, non-adaptive headlights...one less thing to break!

Not every situation is as black and white as you perceive it. I purchased the extended warranty in the 36th month because I had 49k miles. So although the bumper to bumper warranty is for 4 years, it also says OR 50k miles, whichever comes first. In my case, the mileage came first. So I got an additional 3 years or an additional 50k miles. As for just keeping the money, that's totally up to you. My warranty more than paid for itself when I needed all 4 calipers replaced along with the motors in the side view mirrors. Had I kept the $1200, I would have spent an additional $3k.

I don't blame you for being paranoid. Repairs can get costly. The piece of mind is priceless

If my calipers and motors in the side view mirrors needed replacement at 60k miles, I would go to an independent shop and use generic or re-manufactured parts.

Logic: The new OEM part lasted 60k miles already. The generic or re-manufactured part should last ~30k miles!

Talk about flawed logic. So if a component fails, you automatically assume it will fail again and therefore an aftermarket/refurbished part will be better? Ok. Not to mention there are quite a few other components that can fail that will cost you more than a caliper or motor in the side view mirror. It's your car and your money. You can take the risk if you would like. Others like knowing they have an extended warranty in the event something breaks down.
