No add ons.
Drive off ~$18xx.xx
Payment $701/month
36-months, 10k miles per year.

How is that? Should I purchase instead?
Whoa! Very profitable deal for the dealership!

- Residual for 10k/mile lease for 3 yrs is 64% for August 2012...the 3% is a huge profit.
- Money Factor is .00145 for August 2012... there is a profit of .00003...a 0.72% APR profit (*2400)
- ...both of which most likely are the reasons why you were able to do $1500 below invoice
- How much down payment did you put down?
- Are you doing Multiple Security Deposits?
- How much was lease acquisition?

I didn't put anything down but the drive off is $1800 or so. Is that right? No MSD.

...probably. I assume $1800 drive off is as follows: $700 first month payment, $600 in tax/title/fees, $500 lease acquisition fee.

I'd suggest the following:

- Go back and renegotiate the money factor to as close to buy as possible (You were able to get $1500 below buy or invoice for the cash price of the car)
- Go back and renegotiate the residual to buy rate

...what part of CA are you in?

Santa monica. I guess I can just buy it outright instead of leasing. I don't understand leases as well as straight up financing.

Leasing is like renting...an apartment for example.

You are renting a car from Toyota for 3 years and turning it in after 3 years...

I dont feel so good after this. Dealer won't budge on the 61% residual or the 0.00175 MF.

I didn't sign the final docs because I had to get back to work. Call this deal off?

Call it off and work with other dealerships in the area.

It's months-end and dealerships will need to hit their #s!

...always remind the dealership that you're there to "help" them meet and exceed their sales quotas!

I called up another dealership in the area. They can beat them by selling the car for $2000 under invoice.

For leasing they said the money factor is 0.00145 which is in line with what you said.

However they said that the F-Sport Residuals are as follows for 36-month lease:
15K miles/year = 58%
12K miles/year = 60%
10K miles/year = 61%

this is the same residual that the other dealership said. They both say that the residuals are lower for the F Sport. Is this true?

Possibly, I don't buy it for a few reasons:
- FSport is merely a package; thus should the residual drop with a rear sunshade?
- Judging by the lease rates, I don't see any lower residual for F-Sports across the IS or RX line either

http://www.ridewithg.com/index.php/2...s-august-2012/

- Lease is basically the difference between the cash price, and the residual, divided by the duration of the lease + interest. If the dealership's logic stands, then you get hit twice for a F Spot package - Once for the price of the package, and second because the car is worth less because it has this package...

I was at the dealer talking about a 2013 ES and I saw their residual book. Residual for the GS F-Sport was 58% with 15k. Saw it in black and white.

When I leased my 2010 ES there was a lower residual for the UL package on that car too. Big reason why I didnt get it.

I was in the same boat. I ended up purchasing a GS with Lux Pkg, ML, HUD, Spoiler (MSRP - 59253) for $54000. Included Tint also. I got 1.95% financing for 60 months. Plus, I got $1500 Conquest money. The lease was coming out to 3.96% plus the $700 acquisition fee. It is correct though that the MF on the Luxury Package (I assume F sport also) is about 3% less for 15k miles. I have leased my last 4 cars, but didnt see the advantage in it in this case. I figured after 3 years, I would have equity built up, plus if i want to keep the car i can. So far, it has been awesome!!

I got mine fully loaded (Luxury Package + Nav + ML) which had an MSRP of ~$58k. I got it for $53.5k, which the dealer said was below invoice. Interestingly enough, it only took about 12 hours of searching to find the price I wanted

I live in San Diego, CA btw.
