Most dealers will ask and get close to retail price for the new GS until supply increases and they have multiple unsold GS models sitting on their lots. Basic law of supply and demand at work. If you immediately must buy a limited supply, high demand new model, you will pay a premium for it.

Alternatively you can wait 3-6 months and prices for the new GS will very likely go down to a more average dealer profit margin. This will happen when dealers have multiple GS models sitting on the lot.

Patience is one of those traits in life that is almost always rewarded : )

Very logical, JW. But for many of us, logic flies right out the window when it comes to the car we desire - and dealers count on that. If car buying was based entirely on logic, the Lexus brand wouldn't exist and we'd be talking about are new Yaris or Prius.

I'd have to disagree with that one too. I managed to get $1k below invoice earlier this month!

Yeah - it also depends on the brand and who you deal with. We bought our 2001 IS300 days after it was released and payed $500 under MSRP. We bought from a big city dealer which has high amounts of traffic and demand.

This time I worked with a broker and got the GS350 about $4500 under MSRP. I believe the broker works with a dealership way outside of the city, or directly with a fleet manager.

I don't know what my price works out compared to invoice as I'm in Canada and "invoice" isn't as readily available.

Similarly, I priced out an E350 coupe through the broker, and he couldn't come close to pricing to what I was offered at my parent's MB dealership - but my dad is a regular customer. At the end of the day, I wanted to own the car for at least 5 years, up to 10 years, and prefer not to have a MB as a liability. The finance-to-own options were also ridiculous compared to the Lexus.

I want to know the rest of the story. I believe there are dealers who will negotiate below MSRP, but I don't believe they are going below invoice. There is something you are not telling us.

Currently in negotiations with my local dealer here in Miami for a GS F Sport. They will not budge on anything below MSRP until their August "Golden Opportunity" promotion.

Their excuse is that LFS will NOT let them do anything below MSRP. I mentioned to them that lots of people are getting deals well below MSRP and even invoice.

If I can furnish any type of proof, they'd be willing to negotiate on pricing and possibly match.
If anyone would be kind enough to send me their quote/deal via email (block out dealer info, personal info, VIN etc) , that would REALLY help me out big time ! They just want to see numbers. The local manager said he doesnt care about the dealer etc... From what I understand, this will probably be the first dealer to go below MSRP in the east coast. Need your help fellow enthusiasts!
