Default Closing Trunk on GS350 F-Sport

Anyone feel that too much force is required to close this trunk? I have to slam it somewhat for it to close. In other words, it will not close if you gently buy firmly close it by hand. You need to apply some force - I would not call it a slam, but it's at least a mini-slam. Same experience, or do I have to have mine looked at? Thanks,

You are not the only one. I find myself having to do the same. I think the trunk door just does not have enough weight to it. The other thing is it's so light it just flies open if you're not careful when opening it.

Agreed... Maybe some magnetic 2.5lb weights on each side of the lid will do the trick....

I have seen the issue on both F-Sport and Non F-Sport..

I found it's easier to close it when the ski pass thru is opened letting some air to escape when closing the trunk.

Coming from the motorized closing of 3rdGS, it does take a little bit of getting used to the "semi-slamming" needed to close the trunk in the new GS. Many times I would have to re-try closing it harder to get it closed.

Same here. I don't ever close it from up top anymore cause that never seems to work on the first try. I've noticed I just give it the gentle 2 fingers at the bottom ledge and that seems to work just fine.

Don't you guys use the handle on the inside to close? You have to swing pretty hard - but I thought that's what it's for. And it keeps my dirty mitts off the paint.

that means you're slamming the hell out of that trunk. be careful you don't move your hand in time,,,that's going to hurt.

Yeah.. I do a swift motion and have never caught myself. Not on the 4GS (with a light trunk), or my wife's EX35 (with a much heavier trunk). I also do it on other cars too and haven't had much of an issue. A couple of times I haven't used enough force and the trunk didn't shut, but once you get used to the car it isn't that bad.

Now that I think about it - maybe it is a bit weird. The salesperson was amazed that I did it - like I had performed a magic trick for him that he'd never seen before.

I agree, it takes too much force to close the trunk, and when it opens, it forcefully does so.

This is one of the few things that annoy me on my new GS. Especially when my hands are full. My '06 LS and the previous GS had the close assist. I kind of feel like I took a step back.

Same here but i guess they designed it to save weight. Now if they had a option to add the easy close trunk i would have got it stupid canada wont let you choose any option.
