Kids have so much gear that needs to be hauled. Plus the rear seat of the RX is designed for cars/car seats.
For a dedicated kid-hauler, SUV or mini-van is the way to go.

These are two very different sort of cars. It sounds like you're wanting the GS but needing the RX. There's not really a bad choice here, but if you can only get one, the RX is probably closer to what you're needing if you've got a kid. Thankfully, Lexus just announced an F-Sport RX, and it's got a sharp-looking spindle grill, as well as an updated nav. system with support for Enform apps. (It doesn't have, however, the 12.3 inch wide screen.) The F-Sport RX would seem a good best-of-both-worlds; it's more cost-effective than a GS; it will give you the sporty feel you're probably wanting if you're looking at the GS; and, it's got the smooth and comfortable element nailed, too.
My wife loves her RX400h, and I'm on the list for a GS450h soon, so we'll soon be doing both. (No kids in tow, but we do have a pair of dogs to get groomed each week.) Both are black.
