Enform App--What's your opinion?

I have an iPhone 4 and have had pretty good luck with it. I've only used Bing, Pandora and eDestination. Pandora works I'd say 90+% of the time. When it doesn't connect, a restart of the app on the iPhone has always corrected it. Bing works well with voice search and good integration with the Nav system, when it does connect with my phone. eDestination is great. I use this from my desktop (Lexus Drivers site) to automatically send destinations to my Nav, and neatly organize them in folders so they're always available. I agree that these should be free and not subject to a subscription fee, especially given the fact that it's buggy. I'm guessing that in time it will improve and I hope Lexus continues support. I only wish Apple will get off it's a#$ and support MAP so I can hear my emails and text messages.

It is somewhat spotty and does not always mate with the car. You sometime have to either sign out and sign back in or even turn the iPhone on and off. The new download has fixed this a bit but it still does happen at times.

Wow, seems like I am one of the few to get it working properly. I'm running a Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G and it connects every time. Have about 5k miles now and it's sync'd most of the time without any problems.
The biggest problem I had was that there are two bluetooth pairings that take place... one for the phone (Cell and BT Audio usage) and one for the data (Enform usage). However, only the data pairing requires a passcode. So if it's not paired right, only the cell (voice) portion works.
Even with everything working, there's no way I'm paying for the Enform service.... Apps are all but free now, and Lexus wants me to pay them so they can tether to my data plan? ya right!
I'll enjoy my free year for now and after that it's BT streaming for Pandora and iHeart. Same end result just not displayed on the screen.

crazy how bad the Lexus enform app suite is, i have had my gs for 4 months now and still doesn't work it has only worked for like 2 weeks maybe and then stopped working i have the iphone 4 with At&t. I called and have opened a case with Lexus customer support and taken the car to the dealer now just waiting to see what they will do...

I have had pretty good luck with it overall, though it took several tries before I got it to work. I found it much like I find a lot of wireless technologies--prone to occasionally spontaneously not working for short bursts. (As a side note, it took several tries with my mobile phone tonight before I could get its wi-fi mobile hotspot feature and my laptop to talk to each other.) While I'm used to dealing with this kind of technology, it's out of character for Lexus to have it. It could be that they are facing the same dilemma that Apple faces often with devices like the iPhone: include new features that are great when they work but not 100% reliable, or omit those features until they are perfect, only to have everyone else incorporating those technologies while you miss the boat. (iPhone 4 and 4S both lack 4G connectivity, for instance.) Lexus decided to go with having versus not having. But, making it a high profile new feature and one that requires a separate subscription on top of Enform itself may lead to some hits against the brand's legendary reliability track record when word spreads of these issues.

@nantang, I agree but I've found that sometimes a phone has so much junk running on it that sometimes that can be a root cause of stuff like this.
On my Razr, I got into the habit of scheduling a task killer to kill running bloatware, and background apps that are useless. I've also used a built-in app called Smart Actions that manages bluetooth and wireless settings based on charging states. I also use it for silencing everything when I get to church because it also does location based changes.
For example, bluetooth only turns on when I plug in the charger in the car. It turns off when I unplug, or when the car turns off. I wonder if cycling bluetooth on/off helps in any way.
I'm curious to know, so for folks having connection problems, have you - or can you - turn bluetooth off and back on to see if that helps?
Although Smart Actions came on my Razr, there's an app called Settings Profile Lite (free I think, Full is $3.99) at Google Play that does the same thing. I used that before on other android phones with success.

It seems most of the ongoing problems are with iPhoes specifically. Android phones take a little work setting up, but then generally work fine. The problem is, if you only have serious problems with one phone, it has to be the one that just about everyone uses.

On my HTC Sensation the Enfor app works 98+% of the time. I believe some of the problems are with the IPhone and Apple will never admit to it. I had major issues a while ago with my wireless on the iPAD and I was told it's my access point. Next OS release fixed all my issues.

I have an iPhone 4S and it works flawlessly with Enform at least 98% of the time. I am happy with it, but probably will not pay the price of the second year subscription. I can stream Pandora or Accuradio by Bluetooth, and I have plenty of music on flash drives to plug into the USB port.
