help with fuel economy
I just purchased a 1996 ES300 and I seem to be only getting approximately 400km per tank. my users handbook lists my fuel tank as being 70 litres although it only fills up to about 55 litres. The reason why I'm posting this in the GS section is because I seem to be getting a worst fuel economy than the GS300 and GS400. I met a couple GS drivers and the mentioned that they can get at least 500kms on a 60 litre tank.
Is the something wrong my with car? or are those GS owners giving me the wrong numbers?
please help!
Thank you

You need a more accurate way to measure gas mileage. The numbers you give work our to 17.5 MPG, similar to what my wife got on her ES. Ease off of the gas pedal, and you should be able to get well over twenty. I get 23 to 25 on my old SC400, but I drive very conservatively. I hope to do much better than that on my new GS.
I'm hoping after the first oil change it will get better. Do they use special oil during the break-in? I remember in the "old" days we had to get an oil change after a couple thousand miles to take the factory oil out and put in normal operating oil.
I've sent away for my oil analysis kits so I can have a base standard of the break-in on the engine then ever few changes I'll send in a new sample to track the progress of the engine wear.
http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ I've used this lab for years, they are great.
