Did my first oil change at 6k (vs recommended 10k) with Mobil 1 0W-20. Would have done done it at 5k but I was on a long road trip.

Does air quality matter with oil changes? The recommended service is every 10k but my independent mechanic recommended doing it every 5k based on where we live in SoCal
