iOS 6 - messages ability gone

My phone is iPhone 4S and is showing up as MAP in the settings in the car. However; I never get texts when they are sent while bluetooth is enabled. The phone receives them -- but I don't see notification in the car.
Any ideas on why? I have notifications Alert style set to "Banners".

Messages now come through after I found the correct place for notifications. On iPhone ios6 go to Settings, Bluetooth, Devices, Car Multimedia arrow... Turn notifications on. Return phone call and Reply not working though.
Interestingly, according to Lexus website it's not supposed to work. See image:
