390 miles and a check engine light?!?
Just took a short drive and the light was on the entire time.
Only 395 miles on the gs!
I don't have any other details as this just happened.
I just wanted to vent and ask if anyone knows what this is likely to be about.
Should I be worried?
I mean the car is brand new. I'm laughing about how rediculous it is but I'm crying inside. but

I checked the gas cap and it did seen to be loose. After tightening it, I started the engine and the light was still on. I have not driven it yet. Will drive it later tonight and see if the light goes off.
I hope it was just the gas cap!
Thank you all!

Even after tighten the gas cap, a Techstream need to reset the light thus a trip to dealer. I drove out a tank of gas and the light still on. Had happened on 2 Lexus before.

From page 608 at http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do.../sec_06-02.pdf
"When the malfunction indicator lamp still remains on after several driving trips"
-> The error code in the OBD system will not be cleared unless the vehicle is driven 40 or more times."

I'm confused. How did you "tighten" it? There are very clear instructions on the gas cap. Remove it, and put it back on according to the instructions. The light will turn off after a little while (it does not take 40 times). I know this because it happened to us on my wife's GS after she got her first tank of gas.

I had the same thing happen to me. The dealer told me to check my gas cap which I did. Then he told me once I do that drive the car for about 10 miles and the light should turn off. Well it didn't and I took the car back to the dealer and they told me that is was an o2 sensor in the tailpipe. Which they replaced no questions asked. Hope this helps.

I believe it can also happen from putting too low grade of fuel in the car. It happened to me with an Infiniti FX I used to own. That, and engine knock, will occur. Never again.
