Enhanced Engine Noise and Whirring Sound
We just picked up our AWD Premium and I was wondering if anyone noticed a slight whirring sound coming from the engine\trans area. I seem to notice at around 40+ mph when I am keeping a steady acceleration. It's not a very loud noise and I was thinking it could be from the AWD transfer case.
Also I thought I have seen something about some kind of a flap from the engine compartment that enhances the engine noise during acceleration. The info I remember on this is that Lexus service would close or open the panel on request. Has anyone had the flap closed and if so did it make the inside of the car quieter under normal driving conditions? Will Lexus open or close the panel multiple times so I can see what it is like each way or is once they change it is there a charge?
I am thinking this might be related to the whirring sound.

I don't recall reading about a flap from the engine compartment. There is a resonating sound generator (not sure what the technical term is) that WILL 'enhance' the engine sound in the cabin during acceleration (only above 3k rpm I think?)
I don't think it can be stopped (unless you remove that component)
