I leave mine on as well. Some folks find it annoying to have the side view mirror icon lighting up frequently when there's an object/vehicle present, but it's more like conditioning/awareness to me.
I expected the BSM to be a worthless gimmick. I find myself increasingly dependent on it. It's an excellent safety feature, IMHO. Never turn it off. Same for the parking assist.
Who here leaves the Blind Spot Monitor on all the time?
Is there any harm in doing so?
I think I read somewhere that the monitoring system is on all the time and it's only the light on the mirror that goes on and off based on the switch position. That said, I also leave mine on all the time.
I think the blind spot monitoring system works well on the GS 350. It has a wider "blind spot monitoring" range than the system I had on my Edge. It comes on before I lose sight of the vehicle in my side-view mirror and stays on until after I can see the vehicle out of my side window. There is a good amount of overlap. The side-view mirrors on the GS 350 are well positioned and sized which creates a very small blind spot. None-the-less, it's reassuring to have an actively monitoring system.
