Default Changing HIDs to 6000K

Hey Guys,

Quick question, i ordered some 6000K bulbs to replace my 4300s. I changed these out on my previous GS350, the bulbs were located almost on the side and it was really hard to get your hand in there. With the 2013, does anyone have pics of where to install? I see a metal cover, i'm assuming i pull that off to get to the bulb, but can someone confirm or share a pic.

Thanks

on the right side remove the top cover, then u will see the ballast , just twist counter clock wise it will pop open, the unplug the connector, then there is spring that holds the bulb in,just unlock the spring and carefully take the bulb out, it is a tight spot, make sure u do not touch the bulb, and watch how u take the bulb out,the pin location, so u can put it the same way and put the clip on , make sure u put the clip on correctly or else ur bulb will not aim straight.and on the left side turn ur wheel all the way to right and u will see a small pocket with 2 screws, take the screws out and the same way, ballast ,plug then clips, the left side is easier than the right side.I hope this was help full, good luck.

yeah I also have the 6000K bulbs.. But haven't changed them out yet. I actually am taking it in to a local shop that had done work with me in the past. I want to make sure I understand how these come apart. (Since I haven't worked with HIDs before). I am planning to do this Friday. If all works out, I will take pictures of the removal and install.

It's not difficult, it's just that the driver side is hard to get your hand down in there because of the fuse box and windshield wiper fluid. I ended up dropping my HID bulb inside the headlight and it took a great deal of maneuvering to get it back out, while remembering to not touch the bulb. I had to look in the manual, which luckily led me to seeing that there is a trap door in the wheel well. I recommend using that. Two screws and it opens, just turn the wheels as if you're parking on a downhill slant.

Ok all done! I had a shop that I go to all the time help with the install. It is not too hard on the passenger side, but the driver side is really a tight spot. Follow mrpartsman's instructions and you should be fine.

I got mine changed to 6K 2 weeks ago with Philips bulbs, matching my fog light 6K but I'm thinking change back to stock 4300K.

6K bulbs give more cool look but 4.3K bulbs give more lumen output.

5K HID would be best give balance between color and lumen output but seem hard to find a good D4S 5K.

You could try aiming the headlights up a little. I thought I remember reading where some people thought the headlights point too far down. Once they adjusted them, the 6000K bulbs were fine. YMMV

Question:
Why do you need to change the stock HID Xenon headlamps? Aren't the stock headlamps good enough?

If you want a brighter look you can change them.

6000k is like hyper white
8000k is like blue toned
10000k is purple.

The only problem is the higher you go, apparently the quality of the light is less and less. Someone here could explain that way better than me but..

I love 6000k, I have always done 8000k in the past but that is too ricer for me now. 6000k will seem to match all of our interior lights and DRL's.
