I was thinking the same, will replacing a different battery solve the problem?

Yes, have you tried the 5 year WalMart battery (manufactured by Johnson Controls)

On October 19, 2015, the battery on my GS350 died for the fourth time. The guy from AAA said one of the battery cells was dead. He started the car and I drove it to the dealership. They replaced the battery (second time) and also replaced the Gateway ECM. I am concerned the warranty period will expire before I know whether this is a permanent fix.

Will the dealer cover the cost? If changing to other brand?

Sorry to hear that you are not able to enjoy your hot ride. My dealer replaced the battery and the ECU and it works find thus far (knocking on wood). I tested by letting by car sit two day in a row on two different occasions and it started just fine. Hopefully it stays that way. This is a known issue and they must fix it, otherwise keeping on bugging them. My advisor mentioned that there is a TSB out there. Good luck!

Tell them to shove it up their ... !!!

They will replace that battery as many times as needed in the 4 year / 50 k mile warranty..

Give them a hint and tell them the issue is not related to the battery or not driving the car enough..

K, so my car died again jumped the car and bring it to the dealer, they checked the car and they say it's a bad battery and they going to replace it under warranty. I already told them I heard there's a TSB and its a well known issue on the gs. They told me there's no tsb on the battery and they just say they gonna test to see what's wrong. Gonna get my car back in a few hr and going to leave my car parked for 1 week to see if it die again.

Had this happen recently to me on a pretty new battery. Replaced it under warranty, but something tells me this may not be the last time I encounter this...

Update: I let my car sit over the Thanksgiving from Weds night to Tues morning of the following week, and I am happy to report that the car started with no issue. Hope this is permanent.

So has anyone that had their ECU actually had this dead battery problem return? I'm just curious to know if that's the "permanent" fix. There are posts with people who had this replaced by the dealership back in Nov 2014 until recently.

This thread that islandbeef posted was an interesting read.

Looking forward to hearing some responses!

has anyone try this before? it is said to recondition/de sulfate the battery and extend battery life.
