Default Staggered Wheel/Tire Package on an AWD?

I'd like to update the wheels on my AWD and it's been recommended to me to place different width rims and tire sizes on the front and back to enhance the look. Something tells me that this will upset the operation of the AWD system.

Am I stuck with installing wheel and tire packages with the same rolling radius on all four corners or will the AWD system be able to compensate for the differences?

Thanks for your insight.

key is to get tires so the front and rear overall diameter close match to each other. running staggered setup is no problem on awd and it's been proven over and over
