Drove it to the grocery store and found myself parked next to a new ES and head to head with a new LS.

My GS at the moment....... (She's in for service)

Definitely better than the prev gen IS in terms of interior space but still tight. And certainly a fun car.

I really like the new IS. That will probably be the replacement of my GS if something happens to it. But it's just kinda small but if I can score the V8 version of it, I'll be fine.

What do u think of it man? Will u trade ur GS for the new IS? I haven't had a chance to drive one yet and with car market like this, I don't think I will anytime soon.

I loved my IS. Such a fun car. I got rid of it for two reasons. The first was that it was too small. It would be less of an issue now as my kids are bigger, but we had a bit of a surprise second child and his rear facing car seat was next to impossible. Now that we're well past that phase, the kids would be fine back there. The other reason was the lack of features, which has improved somewhat since then. Mine was a 14, and on the 14, you couldn't get things like power folding mirrors, memory seats, no HUD, etc. It was a fun car to own though. If I lost my GS now, I would seriously consider a new IS.

The new IS does look good... a bit tight inside though, and my test drive of a 2.0t didn't win me over.

I'll add some more later but the off the cuff.....

Short answer - it's highly unlikely I would trade the GS for an IS. I don't know what I would do. Guessing I would leave Lexus?

All I can say is that after all this time the GS makes me smile and happy literally every time I get in - I don't know any other way to explain it.

The current IS is a pretty major improvement in terms of interior size but it's still tight. This one is an IS350 F Sport AWD. I haven't gone to look at what options are available so some things might be "fixable" with options.

The main thing is that getting in and out is tight - this one the steering doesn't auto retract and with where I have the seat and steering wheel for me (@ 6'2") it's a bit tough getting in and out. Granted, I'll fully admit to still needing to shed some Covid weight but it would likely be tight even if I was back at a weight from early college days. On the previous IS the rear leg room was basically 0 when I had the drivers seat where I needed it - as in I couldn't even squish in back there. This one looks like I could sit back there for a short ride and be ok.

As @JDR76 sort of mentioned, it seems to be missing a lot of things I take for granted on the GS. I'm impressed with a number of things on the new IS. My guess is that had there been a 5GS it would have had at least some of them. I still need to see what can and can't be optioned onto the car.

More later...

I love the black chrome wheels on the IS, much better looking vs. a black painted wheel.

Car is filthy but I haven’t snapped a pic of it in months. Fresh off an oil change

My new to me Nebula Gray / Cabernet ‘14 F Sport. This is my 4th GS and my second F Sport. I prefer the styling from ‘13-‘15, and this is my favorite Lexus color combination, so when this one popped up last week I moved on it.

When I had my black 2015, it only stayed clean in my garage after a wash. You know how it is around here with the sprinklers... the roads are always wet, and I got tired of the spray all over on the sides of the car. So I got a set of $30 madflaps from Amazon and it really helped keep the car cleaner longer. When I got the 2018, mudflaps was on my list of priorities, but there was enough of a design change that the mudflaps did not fit the refreshed models so I ordered the $400 OEM set from Japan. Pricey, but 4 years later, I do not regret that purchase one iota. You should consider a set for your GS...

The condition of the paint, the stance, the wheels, now the headlights... you really know how to make a fellow GS owner jealous. One word... Badass!

No intentions of tinting in the future?
