I purchased the wheel/tire insurance. It was $400 for 3 years coverage. The dealers first offer was around $600, but we were able to negotiate. The coverage insures ALL tires, not just factory. This was my main concern as most tires don't last more than a year or 20k from the factory.

In NYC there is a rim wrecker on almost every block so I was not leaving the dealer with out the wheel & tire ins. First offer was $1200 for 5 years. I got it for $900 for 5 yrs. Use it one time and it paid for itself. It's a no brainer. Even for double the price.

I always get the tire and wheel insurance, I learned my lesson with my first Porsche. The cost of the insurance was paid in the first three months after replacing two $700.00 dollars die to potholes and a nail.
I have 19 in tires on my Lexus. The tire warranty covers all tires purchased through the dealership (the insurance sol by the dealership).

This insurance is good for peace of mind. I was quoted $795 for five years coverage on my 2013 GS 350 Luxury Pkg (18" rims). I initially turned it down when I finalized the paperwork on a Saturday night. Thought about it over the weekend and how the TL we traded had curb rash on all four wheels.
Called the dealer the following Monday (the day we were to take delivery) and asked if it was still possible to buy the coverage and if there was any wiggle room on the price. They came back immediately with an offer of $595 for the five years and I took the deal. Probably would have bought it anyway at $795 if they weren't willing to deal.

I just looked at my wheel and found out it was bent. Not sure where exactly that it happened but it was probably in NYC near my parents house. NYC has the worst potholes! Well anyway, I don't have wheel insurance and and hopefully this is my only bend. It looks like it's mostly cosmetic on the lip since my tires have retained full pressure. I have been quoted about $120 to fix it from two different places. I'll probably do it this weekend. For $120 I wouldn't bother with my insurance company (Geico) if they had wheel insurance and I have never had enough damage to my wheels to need the dealer insurance.
