Default Trunk lid

Ok no biggie but is it normal to have to push down the trunk lid hard to close?
My ES would close so easily.

Yes, you have to slam the lid closed. I think Lexus half-assed the manual-closing trunk lid design since most markets don't have that "feature".

i use the inside handle and pull down enough, then use two fingers on the bottom of the license plate frame and softly close the trunk.

As others have stated... yes, this seems to be normal for the GS. I always double check to make sure the trunk closed because twice I went to walk away from the car and noticed it hadn't closed when I thought it had.

There is a service bulletin for hard to close trunks which will replace the trunk torsion bars and pulleys to make it easier to close.

i see specific vin#. my car was ordered in Dec. and arrived in June. i'm just wondering if it makes sense for me to go down there, i really don't have trouble closing my trunk. although i would like to see what difference it makes with the fix.

Could this be a weight saving measure?

Also hate to rub this in but looks like the trunk was designed to work as a fully powered version and this manual close feature is peculiar to the US.

My VIN is after the listed VIN. I cant close like you do. My fingers just slip the paint. Seriously though I cant even use my palm to push close the damn trunk. I have to slam it shut like others.

My VIN# is after too.
Got to kind of slam it closed. It's a lease so I really don't care that much like if I owned it but wouldn't mind a fix.
