Since my purchase in May, my GS Luxury AWD model has averaged 20.2.
Mostly suburban driving, with limited highway time. 8,000+ miles. Mostly drive in ECO. Unless I'm on the highway, or when I know I'll need a sudden burst of speed.

ECO desensitizes the throttle where you need more input to get response and lowers a/c level. Sport adds increased throttle response and active downshifting, while sport+ adds tightened steering and suspension. I personally drive almost always in sport or sport+. I've driven in ECO no more than twice since I've gotten the car. This attests to why my mpg is so bad. I filled my tank today and my range was only 259.

Honestly I think its just how you drive personally. The 4GS is right in the middle of the pack concerning mpg. Look at the comparo on feuleconomy.gov

If you have open road however, eco is quite annoying.
So to note I've got a RWD non-DRS Fsport getting 19 with nearly exclusive suburban driving.
But one thing I've noticed, when on the highway, I do see my fuel economy consistently jump up into the low 30's when doing 75, **only** when I have cruise control engaged (again in eco mode). When I maintain 75 myself, the little eco meter registers about 50% more effort from the engine vs when cruise control maintains the same speed.
I'm guessing the engine is putting itself in an ultra unresponsive mode which they don't give to the driver normally in order to do that... or else our built in ECO meter and fuel economy numbers are BS
To me it's always seemed odd.
