Comparing gas mileage across driving modes
I ride strictly in sport mode. Anyone else do this? Has anyone gone full sport for a full tank and then gone full eco for a full tank and compared the difference in gas mileage? My GS has about 150 miles and I am averaging 16.7 mpg on Sport so far. My guess is that this number will actually go up once I get a couple thousand miles on it and the engine breaks in a bit but I 'd like to see some other 4GS owners weigh in.

We were on a road trip. About 300 miles each way. Light or no traffic. I was driving from 70-85mph. Sometimes switched to S+ but Normal mode most of the time. Averaged at high 22s. Not that I'm complaining but that is far off the advertised 28mpg. Maybe if I had driven at 65mph or less.

I drive city every day, highway three days a week, and I alternate between Normal and Sport +. I have been consistently averaging 19.2 mpg, sometimes reaching 20mpg. I'm quite happy with the fuel consumption considering the size, weight and power of the car. I never use ECO. If I did, I might as well trade it for a Lincoln Town Car.

My mileage is similar, i typically drive in eco switching to sport+ for occasional fun with merging and corners and clock in at 19mpg. Nearly all city or expressway driving, not much highway.

I did a mini road trip with my f sport over the weekend and averaged almost 25 mpg in Normal mode. Drive was mostly highway with some local streets. Drove a cool 65-80 mph the entire way.

My 2006 GS430 with the V8 is averaging 20-21mpg in my daily commute (hwy/city mix). I'm not going to be happy if I get sub 20mpg in the V6, but looks like that's what everal here are getting...

Wow, further posts that support petty poor gas mileage results out of the v-6. What a disappointment. I was hoping this car would be on my very short list of replacement cars with one of my criteria being better mpg than my v-8 360hp/360tq 550i. Now I don't know.

ECO desensitizes the throttle where you need more input to get response and lowers a/c level. Sport adds increased throttle response and active downshifting, while sport+ adds tightened steering and suspension. I personally drive almost always in sport or sport+. I've driven in ECO no more than twice since I've gotten the car. This attests to why my mpg is so bad. I filled my tank today and my range was only 259.
